Not bad, the devs will really benefit from the CTs. I would either take two of these squads, or get some more bodies in there to die because they'll be taking lots of fire. Also, a vet sgt isn't bad to help with not retreating.

I'm not a fan of sniper scouts, and bolter scouts in a land speeder storm would benefit more from your CTs.

Totally agree - 4+ to hit / 4+ to wound /AP6 (unless you roll a 6 to hit) means they don't dish much damage. I would go with bolters & HB to maximize the CT. Keep the cloaks if you have the points, helps them survive a bit longer.

I would look at putting some SS on the Command Squad to tank hits, maybe also give your Chapter Master Primarchs Wrath for some pre-assault dakka. At 1850 I would also want some psychic, even if just a bare bones Libby o go with this HQ squad - Invisibility on this could be awesome.

Try to maximize the Sternguard out to 10 models and combat squad them - that way they might survive past turn 1. Possibly drop the bikes to finance this?

With the Land Speeder, don't squad them - take as separate units otherwise fire can be directed at both 'as a unit'. Maybe just take one but give him 2x MM and deep strike for late game AT dakka and objective grabbing.

Another DEV squad is also a good call (maximize the CT!) and maybe an ADL for them all to hide behind, as they will attract lots of dakka (especially if you end up going second).

If in doubt, frag it out...

Thanks for your comments mate

I would like to take 2 of these squads but the issue is I would have to take out the Vindicator....which I'm a bit loathe to do.....it has nice BIG Dakka

The sniper scouts.....I'm on the fence with these.
They have helped me win a few games actually. Cheap option for troop choice and camping on an objective with camo cloaks and they are hard to shift in the shooting phase.
I also like the sniper rifles to help with damage to MC's

I'm going to try and explain my thinking.

I like the sniper rifles to help with damage to MC's. Do you think it is still better to unload more bolter shells at them?

Unfortunately I cannot add SS onto them as the are not a Command Squad. They are an Honour Guard. Trust me, I would love to add a couple of SS
20 points for Primarchs Wrath for 1 round of shooting doesn't really seem worth it. Remember the CM and Honour Guard are in the StormRaven and will assault as soon as they exit. They really do some damage one they get stuck in.

I do see your point about the Librarian....need to try and get him in.

So you reckon dropping the bikes to add 5 more Sternguard for the drop is a better option?

Good advice on the Landspeeder. Dropped one and added a second Melta to the remaining speeder. Leaves me with 40 points extra.....just short of the 25 needed for a Libby.

I would like to take 2 Dev squads but the issue is I would have to take out the Vindicator....which I'm a bit loathe to do.....it has nice BIG Dakka

With the scouts, I know what you mean with the 4+ to wound on MCs, but I just find at BS3 I don't get many hits with them - it might just be that my rolling sucks though My preference is for botlers & HB w/hellfire shell as you can put out a lot of damage to a variety of troops/characters/MCs coming forward, giving you more flexibility. And if a vehicle gets to close, scouts make a great suicide krak squad in assault.

Sorry, missed it was an honour guard - you could change it out for a command squad if you get the libby in there, but if you want them in CC I would probably stick with them as they are. I think you will get much more than one turn of shooting from the primarchs wrath - unless you are planning on tarpitting your own squad he should get some pre-assault dakka every turn. Maybe give it to the Libby instead?

10 Sternguard are definitely worth it - nothing more hilarious than hitting your opponents HQ unit/MC with 20 rapid fire hellfire shells on the first turn and picking up first blood / slay the warlord / line breaker (as most people forget to blow up the drop pod ) You can give one combat squad a few combimeltas to for an AT option too.

Your army is short on pie plates, so it might be worth keeping the vindicator. Only issue is its range - might be better off going for a thunder fire cannon, it will be cheaper too. How about;

Chapter Master (230)
Iron Halo ,TH, Artificer Armour, Eternal Shield

Libby (110)
Lvl 2, Primarchs Wrath

Honour Guard - 5 Man (160)
1 x Power Sword on Chapter Champion, 2 x Power Axes, 2 x Power Swords, Chapter Banner

Storm Raven (200)
Twin-Linked Assault Cannon or Lascannon, Twin-Linked Multi-Melta, Stormstrike Missiles
(Chapter Master, LIbby And Honour Guard In Storm Raven)

Scout Squad - 5 Man (55)
4 x bolter, 1x HB

Tactical Squad - 10 Man (195)
Bolters x 8,1 x Meltagun, 1 x Multimelta, Rhino

Assault Squad - 5 Man (95)
3 x Chainswords And Bolt Pistols, 2 x Flamers, Drop Pod

Sternguard Squad - 10 Man (295)
7 x Normal Bolter, 3 x Combi Melta-Bolter, 1 x Drop Pod

Landspeeder (80)
2x Multimelta

Thunderfire Cannon (100)
With Siege Shield

Ironclad Dreadnought (190)
Powerfist and Concussion Hammer, Assault Launchers, 2x Heavy Flamer Upgrade, 1 x Drop Pod

Devastator Squad - 5 Man (140)
2 x Missile Launchers, 2 x Lascannons

Total 1850

Still doesn't get you your second DEV, but to do that you will need some serious rejigging - possibly change the chapter master for a cheaper captain, lose some of the toys, footslog the TAC and maybe then you will have enough.

If in doubt, frag it out...

Thanks a lot for your help mate

Seems to be a very solid list....and the Thunderfire Cannon might be the answer.

I'll defo have a look at the 10 Sternguard. Might be the way forward

Thanks again for taking the time
