Simple question; Out of all the armies in 40k what do you think is the one that provides the most enjoyment and entertainment?

Just to clarify I'm not looking for the most competitive armies that will easily win you the game, just the armies you think bring the most fun to a game.

Orks. Hands down. They do everything, hilariously.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Chaos Marines (cause chaos is just fun, no real reason) Necrons (cause We'll Be Back) and Dark Eldar (who look awesome, and seem to play interestingly)

I play the first 2, and now that the codex is out, I think I'm going to begin the 3rd

Guard and Orks. Orks because, well, Orks. Fairly self explanatory with their combination of fluff, models, and crunch.

I'd say Guard for the versatility and number of options, especially with FW. And, I mean, come one, tanks are fething cool.

There is not this idea.

I love Orks, but that's already been said, so I'll throw in another vote for the Guard. The huge tanks are fun because, you know, huge tanks. And I personally like the feel of them being ordinary people fighting doomed battles against nightmares.

I'm going to be real original here, but I'm going to say orks and CSM, and, if done correctly, guard.

The game is more interesting the more of the rules you actually use. An army that survives by a mix of long range shooting, short range shooting, and close combat is going to get the most out of the game relative to an army that just does one thing, like, say, just sitting around and shooting things with long range guns, and doing nothing else.

It's easy to fall into the trap of taking the easy, simple way, and orks and CSM in particular are good because they don't give you easy options. They force you to play creatively and in an interesting way, and have silly fluff to boot.

If you have the discipline to make them interesting, then guard can also work very well for you (especially foot guard, or chimera rushing), and you can also make light-side SM interesting as well, especially if you use drop pods.

Krieg! What a hole...

Uh... the armies that I play?

On one side you've got the semi fearless guardsmen showering the enemy with artillery shells, while the engineer rip and tear everyone and their mother with the Hades drill and whatnot. Its all pretty awesome

On the other, you've got Scions, who need to be used with more finesse, but when your deepstrike rolls go well and you point the squad with the proper special weapon at the right aterget, its extremely rewarding.

I wouldn't touch Orks with a 20 feet pole.

For me it's probably tyranids, drowning my opponents in bodies and the occasional tank flipping monstrosity is always fun to me.

Plus, the knowledge that even if my opponent wins our match, they're eventually going to be devoured by the millions of bugs behind them makes the defeat not nearly as painful.

For me the most entertaining army is Chaos (Marines as well as Daemons) when played against loyalist scum in a FLGS.

Grey Knights are fun due to their mechanics.

I love playing Eldar without Wave Serpents and see people wonder why they got their ass handed without the most OP unit on the table

My armies:
Eldar
Necron
Chaos Space Marines
Grey Knights
Imperial Knights
Death Guard

For me it's guard mainly due to the sheer variety to them, especially with Forgeworld units! I've recently had fun using the twin linked punisher cannons on the Vulture gunship, plus at some point I wanna field up to 6 cyclops demolition vehicles because fielding 6 individual T6 remote demolition charges sounds like fun.

I'm also thinking of fielding a Tau Battlesuit army, because they'll always be active; always moving and thou short on numbers will have the firepower to stand up to most armies with a selection of weapon loadouts. Could be fun!

I gotta vote Orks too. They are absolutely zany. They have a unit which launches a missile that is steered by a grot into the target. They paint their red because it some how makes them go faster (they are latent psychics so their belief in things make them so.). They throw random crap together of metal to form their vehicles. Lastly they have the zaniest rules to ensure your game is hilarious.

So....

Most fun to watch for me is either Chaos with all their zaney gak or Orks for all the shenanigans they get up to.

For playing, it would be DA for me. Stubborn, determined, and specialized make them awesome. That and they tend to break less than their regular counterparts

Depends for me. Orks are just like "This is a box filled with nails, its a shoota!" I love it!

For me Space Wolves too. I have seen some models here and there where they are drinking to having horns. One of my Terminators has a horn attach to his crotch and one of my buddies notice it and was like that is great wish I came up with that.

The dark behind the eyes.

I think most armies with a lot of infantry are fun.

The fact that they tend to sustain a lot of casualties even when they win means that most opponents will go away with a sense of accomplishment, even if they lost.

As opposed to spending the entire match trying to chip a single wound or hull point off some stupid flier or death star.

Also, in the era of super-heavies, MCs and such, I think infantry armies are just a nice sight in general.

Orks can be great fun - ya get ta do da voice an all

Tyranids are fun cos you can just (a bit like Orks) be completely uncaring about your army / models

Sisters are fun as its always great to get those 6++ saves off when the "Emperor Protects".

I'm playing Tau again, so Tau. Though I tend to be less of a gunline Tau and try to move around the board a lot. I also enjoy the fluff so whenever i fire my cyclic ion blaster I yell "CYCLIC ION BLASTER! FOR THE GREATER GOOODDD!!!" and... just fun stuff like that.

Some of the fun is making the army yours/being into the fluff instead of just playing to win.

I also (after asking my opponent if it's OK) use an Aun'Shi model as a "Holographic morale support monument" or something of the like, throwing out Greater Good quotes. (Got the inspiration playing Halo with the Covenant).

Orks. They're the only faction that takes 40k as it should be taken.

On the other hand, I really like Tau playstyle. So much dakka...
I hope they'll honor Thousand Sons in 30k. I really like the concept of psychic marines

Even in a fortress, the amount of casualties I sustain is astounding and yet I claim my force is made up of veterans xD

Plus the Deathstrike Missile launcher is always fun to fire 'Danger Close'. Who knows what will happen? Will the army at the gates be destroyed or will my own Fortress kick the bucket?

Orks are my favorite army to play against....hilarious.

As foir playing with an army, that changes. I move between Necrons, CSM, and Tyranids.

I'm enjoying playing with Tyranids most lately...probably because I am actively modeling them, and its fun to play with your newest toys.

There is something about playing Tyranids against Space Marines (any stripe) that especially captures my imagination.

That sounds great. Dangerously close to "Forging the Narrative" though.

I enjoy playing against any army where the player gets into the overdone spirit of the army. 40k's fluff is so over the top, I don't think that it works best when you don't try and take it seriously.

I love playing my guard, getting to go up against the lunacy that is the rest of the galaxy (including the Imperium) with a resolved sigh, while my Commissars (see lunacy mentioned earlier) rant and rave about all the Heresy going on around them. I also get to throw so many bodies at a problem. That's great too.
