So I was reading through the DE Codex and I thought it looked like a fun army to try. I've only played Orks and Space Marines before, so this seemed like a good change of pace. So I made an 1850 list (since thats what my local group normally plays at for tournaments and whatnot) to see if I got the hang of them.

HQ
Archon (joins to Trueborn Squad) – Blaster, Haywire Grenades, Shadow Field (120 Points)
Haemonculus (Joins to Incubi Squad) – Liquifier Gun, The Animus Vitae (105 Points)

Elites
Incubi – 9 Incubi (198 Points)
Raider – Dark Lance, Shock Prow, Nightshield (85 Points)
Kabalite Trueborn – 4 Splinter rifles, 4 Blasters, 1 Splinter Cannon (174 Points)
Raider – Dark Lance, Shock Prow, Splinter Racks, Nightshield (100 Points)

Troops
Kabalite Warriors - 9 Warriors, 1 Dark Lance (100 Points)
Raider – Nightshield, Splinter Racks, Nightshield (85 Points)
Kabalite Warriors - 9 Warriors, 1 Dark Lance (100 Points)
Raider – Nightshield, Splinter Racks, Nightshield (85 Points)
Kabalite Warriors - 5 Warriors (40 Points)
Venom – No Upgrades (55 Points)

Fast Attack
Scourges – 6 Scourges, 4 Scourges with Haywire Blasters (172 Points)

Heavy Support
Ravager - 3 Dark Lances, Nightshield (135 Points)
Razorwing Fighter – 2 Necrotoxin Missiles, Monoscythe Missile, Shatterfield Missile, 2 Dark Lances (145 Points)
Razorwing Fighter – 2 Necrotoxin Missiles, Monoscythe Missile, Shatterfield Missile, 2 Dark Lances (145 Points)

My idea was to keep the Haemonculus/Incubi Unit and the Razorwings in reserve. I would have the Warriors and the trueborn squads move from cover to cover (if possible) and have them harass infantry as the Scourges and Ravager fire at Armor.

The Incubi/Haemonculus would try to get close and then pop the Animus Vitae, and have the incubi assault a squad. Whenever the Razorwings come in, they'll fire off their payload and either hunt Air targets or help out with picking off Armor.

So, am I completely wrong on how to play DE? Did I do Okay? C&C Please!

Well Razorwings are now FA choices... I love Incubi, but man for their points 20 - and no grenades, they are not that competitive. That being said you need to play with what you like and develop your play style. It also depends on your local meta as well. The problem with so many raiders I worry about dealing with infantry - hordes. I tend to like venoms more, however that is my playstyle. If you are going to run incubi I would run two smaller squads or one big one with haemonculi or urien and could do Drazhar - go all in. Just remember that your opponent will target the heck out of it. Good luck

Incubi unit is 180, 190 with Klaive.
Warriors: If you want to go with the lance, also take the blaster. Makes them more dedicated to the role.
Raiders: Splinter racks in units with dedicated anti-tank is odd. I'd drop the racks, or switch some of the dark lances to splinter cannons.
Raider elite: Shock prow is horrible. You're giving up a S8 lance shot, and giving up passengers options to do a S7 hit on the ram.
Venom: Really wants the 2nd cannon. Always. Everytime.
Scourge: Points are off again, that unit is only 136 points.
Ravager: Point off (again). 3 lances and night shields is 140 points.
Razorwings: Odd mix of missiles. I like shatterfield, a lot. S7 lets you possibly get another hull point on a lot of targets. And as previously pointed out, Razorwings are fast attack.

Thanks for pointing out the points problem. My battlescribe must need to be updated.

I put the splinter racks in the blaster raider b/c the non blaster trueborn have splinter guns. If its not gonna help, I'll drop em.

Dropping the prows is fine and should free up some points.

My thoughts on the Missiles was to, when they came in from reserves, have a set of tools to deal with any problems my army would be having. If its better to have a more focused set on them, I should have the points for it.

Thank you!
