Does anybody have any bright ideas for this kind of army? Or has anyone done anything like this and got some inspiration?

An obvious start in my opinion are both patterns of the Elysian Tauros. I would like to throw in some Sentinels too, including one or two Elysian ones. I've long desired to do an Ork/Guard mashup army, using humans (with perhaps some Orks as Ogryns), and many of the Ork vehicles would be perfect, such as the Trukk; the Kill Blasta; and then some Warbikes, Warbuggies, and Wartrakks obviously. I quite like the Sky Talon too, it takes a lot of the bulkiness out of the Valkyrie. So, the big obstacles are getting infantry that look good, I'm thinking mashing together a few of the different Guard kits, so they look like a real rag tag bunch. Throw in a few FW Renegade stuff obviously for the symbology. Then I just need to replace the Ork crews with humans, but that shouldn't be too difficult. I want to keep mostly to GW kits because I play in the shop. I don't mind using very generic looking skulls or stuff like that, but anything identifiable needs to be GW.

So, what should I play as what?

The Kill Blasta could be some kind of Baneblade variant, the Bikes could be Rough Riders (do they exist in Renegades?), but I'm kind of stuck with everything else. What do you think?

Battlewagon with Kilcannon, Ard Case and guards manning HBs out the side would be a great Leman Russ model.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I like where you're going with that idea, but do you think the Battlewagon is bulky enough to justify front armour 14? Also, wouldn't HBs be too big for normal Guardsmen? Maybe Ogryns...

I hope so. It has front armor 14.

It's got two heavy shootas mounted on either side, I figured swapping them for mounted HBs would be easy.

Ogryn almost certainly would not fit in the model.

Also I would totally use DV chaos cultists as my guardsmen.

Oh right. I didn't know the stats of the Battlewagon.

Ah, they are mounted guns, I see, which would obviously make it a lot easier. I have some cultist models which I will hopefully be able to interchange between this army and my CSM one.

Yeah id say before you just drop money on FW see what's usable from the ork line, a lot of their stuff is really max inspired.

Catachan HWTs would give you Lascannons, mortars, RLs, HBs and auto cannons along with Catachans models.

Of course. The only FW things I "need" are the Tauros buggies and the Kill Blasta. There are other things I would like, but I won't get immediately. This will be a long term project anyway, I won't purchase everything at once.

Speaking of the Tauros, what could that be in a Renegade army?

A chimera?

They have chimeras right?

It's a little small, don't you think?

I'm not actually sure how the relationship between the GW and the FW books works. IA13 doesn't have any infantry in its Renegades section, so presumably that means you take units from the actual Guard Codex right? This being the same logic as using the Marine section of the book to complement C:CSM? However, C:AM is a desperate ally of C:CSM. Is this negated if there is an IA13 to "bridge the gap" between the two?

Because, if so, and I can use normal C:AM units as part of a Traitor Guard army, then I can just use an Elysian Tauros as what it is, right?

In Warp Transit to next battlefield location, Destination Unknown

the Imperial guard are allies of convienience for chaos space marines. I would just use normal IG for your traitor guard.

Cowards will be shot! Survivors will be shot again!

Deffkoptas are pretty mad max. Like the one that guy had in the road warrior

Nice idea! Have you thought of using human infantry models from a whole bunch of ranges - Chaos cultist, Catachans, kit-bashed flagellants, Infinity Ariadna, Necromunda gangers, etc, as "count-as" orks and use the orks codex. Everybody rides a trukk!

Unfortunately I can't bring myself to like the Deffkopta model. It's too "comical," and while I get that that is Orky, it's not really my style.

Not sure what gave you the idea that the renegades list in IA13 doesn't have infantry? It has several different infantry options.

Pretty much the reason I don't have koptas in my MM themed ork army

I don't actually own the book but I can't see any sign of them on the contents page. I tried to buy the book but my card wasn't accepted. :(

There are, as mentioned, several infantry options in IA13. Rough Riders are, however, not included. Nor are Tauros vehicles.

In fact, there are not a whole lot of fast things in the book at all. When I hear Mad Max, I think more of an Ork Speed Freak army. Personally I would use the rules for Orks and use a mixture of Chaos, IG and Ork models.

Hm. You might be right, but I want to be able to ally them with my Chaos too. Perhaps I can play different lists and use the different books. Or, perhaps I can play them as AM, and simply use them as Allies of Convenience with my Chaos. But I still want IA13. There are a few goodies in there I really want.
