Hey Guys,

I am very new to Warmahordes, barely played a few games outside of a journeyman league about a year ago. I started with Troolbloods and finally bought some skorne because the owner of the store where I played my Journeyman league did not want me to play my troolbloods because he did this mainly to sell new models...

So now I have a Trollblood army and a Skorne Army and I am a newbie with zero experience. I am reaching to you guys to help me choose which faction would be best for me to start learning this game.

In terms of models, both factions have great beasts but in terms of infantry, troolbloods are much better in terms of look only. So overall, I like trollbloods models a bit more. In terms of fluff, I have to admit that Skorne is better than trollbloods (my opinion of course).

So the only remaining aspect is in terms of gameplay. Having mostly played in my journeyman league, I am only used to my Skorne. They were fun to play even though they do not have a lot of firepower, their beast are simply devastating.

I need you own opinion about which of these two factions would be best to start with in terms of learning curves. One day I am opting for Skorne and they following day I am going for trollbloods so perhaps you can help me decide. I like both factions, and I already have the models or at least most of them...

I want to know which faction has the most versatility in terms of play style and if one is more competitive than the other....Which one will be a great learning experience for a newbie without being frustrating.

Tks for your help Guys.

Trolls are probably the most newbie friendly army since they're forgiving. All their infantry has a nice 5+ "save" to fall back on, and they increase survivability and power through use of buffs. Most casters don't use a ton of beasts, so a majority of the buffs are great for getting better utility from your infantry. That being said, Troll beasts are nothing to scoff at. Most of the heavies have an extra Fury which allows them to do slightly more and still be open to transfers should you need to go extra hard one turn. The downside to the trolls is that they are a bit slow, but they can certainly take a punch while they get to the enemy.

m14dude is spot on about trolls. Armywide tough, buff stacking, and all medium based models are great for starting out.

Personally I like Skorne because there can be more variety in set up. Not to say trolls are one note, but they're pretty dominated by the 'meat mountain'.

As for skorne lacking firepower, the new bugs coming out have a lot of people excited about skorne gunlines.

With both you'll learn the basics, then the finesse. I think that skorne will differ more depending on warlock and army setup (an all beast pMorghoul list is very different than a pXerxis fist list)

Pick one, stick with it for awhile and slowly build it up to 35 points. If you like it great. If not then switch and do the same with the other faction.

Most people who play have more than one faction. I have 5.

Also, save the off army for buddies to get them into the game, too.

Trolls are amazingly fun to paint and great looking. A little goofy at times (The Scout holding a pig???), but it just adds to the story of them being fairly simple and thrust into fighting for survival.

Thank you Guys for You Opinions, while it is true that Trollblood are more fun to paint, especially for the infantry. I have decided to learn the game with Skorne. The new Exigence units coming out are quite awesome and after carefully reading trough the various casters, the skorne ones are more appealing to me....at least from a newbie's perspective....I can't really connect the dots at this point...It just feel like their playstyle are all quite different. Also, Trool being infantry based, I would need to by a lot more models only having a squad of fenblades.

I am also already a little bit familiar with Skorne having used pMorghoul during my journeyman league. I shall continue learning the game with them and see if I can enjoy playing them. I know I did during my journeyman league.

Tks to all that submitted an answer, I really appreciate.

But remember, there's always drunken Borka and his keg waiting for you to draw you in. Plus I hear he rides a bear in his next incarnation!
