Hey all, I've been away from 40K since 7th edition dropped (I did get one 7th ed game in with someone else's army), combination of school kicking my butt in the last semester and getting carried away with Dropzone Commander when I did have time.

I'm wanting to get back to playing 40K, but would like a little push in the right direction for a solid list under the new rules. Most games at the FLGS are 1500, 1850, or 2000 points. Suggestions for 1500 and 2000 would be awesome. I own just over 5k worth of Chaos that you can choose from , and I also have a little extra padding in the bank account this month so can add to this if it would help with the list ideas. Thanks in advance for your time

What's available:

Chaos Models

2) Predators
Vindicator
3) Rhinos
8) Chaos Bikes
20) Terminators
Terminator Lord
Terminator Sorcerer
2) Sorcerers
40) Cultists
43) Chaos Marines
13) Noise Marines (probably convert a couple of the CSMs to NM’s to make 15)
10 Havocs (5 with Lasguns/5 with RLs)
Helbrute
12) Chosen
Daemon Prince
3) Obliterators
Abaddon
Lucius
Typhus

Thanks so much. That Hellcult sounds like an absolute blast and perfect use for cannon fodder Cultists.

On the NM one are you saying to use a Lord with MoS, PF and LC as it's better than Lucius? Just want to clarify.

And on the NM themselves, are you saying put the 2 BMs in a group of regular NM without SB or should there be 7 Sonics there in addition?

Thanks again for the suggestions!

I just recently restarted gaming after a hiatus and have been rebuilding my first army - Nurgle CSM! I can't tell you enough how fun it is to play with Typhus, few basic termies, lots of zombies, a few Plague Marine squads with either 2x plasma or melta guns, 2 to 3 Obliterators and Bikers with 2 x Meltaguns. I'm also working on building a Nurgle Helbrute for a Helcult to use more of the Cultists I own. Zombies are so fun to convert, too. There are many options for zombies, but if you want to do it with GW products, get yourself a box of fantasy Zombies and a box or two of IG Cadians and go to town! It takes a little bit of converting to mesh the two kits, but it's pretty basic stuff.

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.

Yea that definitely sounds like fun. Are the people you play against ok if you run CSM as PM? Really don't relish the thought of buying a ton more Finecrap at platinum prices. Here's a few pics of one of my Oblits - I didn't go all Nurgly and gross on him though.

Your Oblit looks pretty good! Yeah, only a complete asshat would give you crap about running regular CSM as Plague Marines. I have about 50 of them myself, but in metal. No way in hell I'd buy them in finecast. If you watch ebay you can find metal ones for good prices. Usually they have horrid paint jobs, but that's how you get them cheap. Then just give 'em a wash in a cleaner like Simple Green. Alternatively, Nurgle is pretty easy to sculpt with Green Stuff, so it's pretty simple to make the regular plastic CSM look a bit Nurgley. Once you settle on a list you like, I'd take some time to Nurgle the csm a bit. Just helps define them as Plague Marines.

Yea, if Nurgle is something I stick with, I'll definitely mod them out a bit. Will be a bit odd seeing pretty pink, purple, and animal print Noise Marines (don't want to give them up) on same table with gnarly looking Plague Marines

Noise can have fnp thru IoE. So why not have a squad with blastmaster to hold a backfield obj?

Alternatively Forge world do an amazing death guard conversion kit. I know it's resin, but it's normally better than finecrap, and looks significantly better than the plague Marines you can buy. Add them to a CSM box and you're golden.

You sought to cower behind your walls, weakling? Instead, by the will of Khorne, you shall die behind them

Oh yea, I've seen those bits and they are awesome looking, but by the time you add in a box of marines and the conversion kit price, you're paying almost half again as much as the GW Plague Marines, Granted they will look better and be easier to work with though.

If money were no object, I'd definitely do the FW Deathguard conversion and the FW Noise Marines because they are just bad@ss.

And yes Filch I've done that before, also thrown them in Rhino and trucked them up closer...not best plan with MSU though. Might be more effective with larger squads of them, especially since vehicles are a bit tougher now.

Again, if you haunt ebay for a while, you can nab Forge World Plague Marines on the cheap when they have horrid paint jobs. The only issue then is the amount of recasts out there. You never know if you're getting the real thing unless you get it from FW, but such is life lol. Like I said before, it's pretty simple to make the regular CSM kit look Nurgley just by adding a little green stuff tentacles, boils, mutations, ex. If you want to avoid anyone giving you crap about them not being Plague Marines, get some metal Death Guard shoulder pads form the GW site. You could also get a Possessed CSM kit and mix those bits in there as well. With a Nurgle paint job the Possessed bits make great mutations. Lots of options available!

I will give that a whirl for sure. Sort of forgot about the DG shoulders that GW sells, I'll get some of those if I do conversions.

Do you know of someplace that sells green stuff reasonable? Only 2 places sell it here - the LGS and Hobby Town, both are exorbitantly priced.

I do have a couple Milliput colors (the gray, and the yellow mixtures), fairly certain they have one that is pretty close to GS consistency/workability but not sure which one it is.
