They will get slay the warlord on you a little to easily. Either stick him in a serpent (making him not be able to suse his powers) or give him mantle of the laughing god.

You start him off in the waveserpent turn one so he doesn't get shot to death if you don't go first. Also give him some extra range and you can move the serpent then move him out of it 12" and still be able to cast on your first turn

He has a jetbike. He has 6 T4 3+ ablative wounds, and then another 6 if the first get shot down. It's much sturdier than the MotLG Seer. Mantleseer is pretty great, don't get me wrong, I'm playing it myself, but if you play large jetbike squads, that's the place for him.

How much durability do you really find Mantle of the Laughing God gives? I see it recommended a lot, but I almost feel that it makes your Character's overall durability a bit worse. Its a very powerful ability ability, some of the time, but against many of the armies out there it seems like it will get your Warlord killed, and gut your psychic support in record time. I suppose if you roll fortune and are constantly spending enough warp charges to keep Fortune on your Farseer it will stay alive, but in that case... you're only buffing him by himself which makes his purpose in the game largely irrelevant.

Tau will hit your Warlord with 2 markerlights and that 2+ rerollable is gone. Or a Buffmander with a deep striking Crisis Team...
Eldar have Serpent Shields which ignore that 2+
Imperial Guard have an Order to remove cover for a shooting unit, All it takes is one Las Cannon going through your Invulnerable save.
Etc, Etc Etc

2+ re-rollable is great, and can make you unkillable at ranged for many armies. But I just feel like in an all comers list, where you don't know who you are facing, forcing your warlord and sole source of psychic support to deploy by himself against the wide variety of abilities and dangerous cover ignoring weapons in the game... just seems like a recipe for giving up slay the warlord and losing out on your psychic support.

Honestly I think the best protection against Slay the Warlord is a Squad of Jet Warlocks. They have a 4++ to really tank with fortune, and generate additional warp charges to power your psychic phase more effectively.

It's not only the cover that it gives.

When you face armies with some fearsome firepower you can just hide behind a BLOS move 12", cast your spells and then another 36".
If you were in a 6-man jetbike unit you wouldn't be able to hide that easily.

EDIT: Don't forget about Hit'n'Run!

Indeed the idea is to keep the farseer in a jetbike squad, I was considering the MotLG but i needed the points elsewhere. And as previously mentionned, the squad makes her pretty tough, enough that im not just giving away my warlord at least

Automatically Appended Next Post:
On that same note of saving on points a jetbikewarlock unit is pretty expensive

Its the equivalent of 6 tactical marines and a captain. (with jink)

Which is pretty easily killed. Anything with high rof will eliminate them very easily.

Mantle of the lauhging god requires 108 (yep, one hundred and eight) saves he needs to take to kill him. Thats not counting to hit rolls and to wound rolls. thats 288 bolter shots to brin him down.
You know how many bolter shots it takes to take down a farseer with 6 jet bike body guard?
81.

81 vs 288.
Thats a big difference.

Literally the only way the mantle seer is less survivable is when there is ignores cover weapons, and even them im not worried at all.

Its indeed the ignore cover weapons which are the issue with the mantleseer, and close combat but that is harder to do due to how maneuverable she is, and the fact that its more expensive then just sticking her in a jetbike squad.

To bring some bad news, I dont think one farseer is really all that good of a cboice. To me the psychic phase is a thing of excess: you either bring a bunch or none. Im not sure if the points could give you something else useful though, so Im not sure it matters. Maybe go with an autarch with a fusion gun to ride with the fire dragons? That gives you 35 points you could put into your wave serpents: maybe ghost walk matrices on 3 of them.
