Well I didn't see this one coming, board game rather than mini game and with no fanfare at all

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/coolminiornot/the-world-of-smog-on-her-majestys-service

Set in the fantastic steampunk World of Smog created by Panache Animation, On Her Majesty's Service is a stylish board game for two to four competing players. You'll need to navigate the rotating tiles that make up the game board, trading Ethers and Artefacts in order to fulfil the quest set by Queen Victoria, all the while dealing with the Agents of the Shadow Master.

Game Overview

Each player controls a different Gentleman, tasked by Queen Victoria to journey into the Shadow Market and bring her four precious Artefacts.

To do so, they'll need to navigate the underworld of shifting gears that is the Shadow Market, buying and selling the different Ethers in order to have the Coins necessary to acquire all four of the Artefacts. One unique aspect of On Her Majesty's Service is that each player may only interact with the icons that are facing their edge of the board. Since the tiles that make up the board are frequently rotated by the players' actions, the landscape of options available to each player is in constant change. Manipulating the board to one's advantage (and to hinder your opponents) is crucial to victory.

Gathering the different Ethers (mana, blood, titanium and ectoplasm) is also essential to allow the players to activate the powerful Special Action cards they can gain. And more importantly, once they've acquired all four Artefacts, they'll need to have the right amount of each Ether to match their Secret Combination in order to be allowed to leave the Shadow Market through their Secret Gate. Thus, choosing what Ethers to buy and when to sell them is a key factor to making sure your whole plan lines up.

The world is an existing steampunk miniatures line by Smart Max (http://www.smog1888.com/en/smog/) but I don't think we'll see any of their stuff in this

So is this CMON combined with the creators of the amazing SMOG 1888 resin miniature line? Could be good.

Edit: Just seen your edit, should be good.

10 Day campaign. They are really trying to get rid of any mid-campaign lull, aren't they. The gameplay video seemed decent, although the Agents swap in and out a bit too quickly to really strategize with them.

Looking at that board makes me want to fall asleep.

Hmm...

I like the concept, but I don't like the busts instead of figures.

I had the same irritation with Dogs of War, which has some really cool designs, but busts instead of figures (or torsos in the case of the armies if you got those).

Plus whever we seem to actually play a board game, everyone wants to play a miniatures heavy one rather than a more euro- style tokens type.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I'm not too thrilled with this one. Smog had some really nice, far-out models, but this seems to have taken that all away.

Busts instead of minis, everything is brown, little time for SGs to pimp it out and make it interesting, same "we'll charge you whatever we like for shipping after the fact" BS as before.

Pass.

Agreed, I've grabbed a few of their resins and they're awesome. Since this game / campaign has none of those miniatures, it has zero interest for me...

Looks like this one is more of a Euro style game.

I'd bet the design team is the same one that did Dogs of War and Arcadia Quest.

Rulebook actually looks pretty interesting to me, and my wife loves Euros.

Dogs and Arcadia were both put out by Spaghetti Western Games, but were done by different designers (Mori and Lang if I remember correctly).

I see a few familiar names listed in the rules though.

Can't complain about Madura's art either.

The concept of the moving board seems fun too. I hit the remind button at the very least, and it's funded already so it's not a big deal to me for the next week at least.

Give it some time to stew.

I think the busts look quite nice, but the board is an unfortunate combination of too busy while being too brown

The busts are nice, but the board.... if Tzolkin can have plastic gears why can't this...

Plastic board parts could work as stretch goals.

Wouldn't surprise me really.

67 hours left. They've finally posted the full body sculpts that were teased - as a $30 optional buy.

Those look nice.

I wish they'd offered something similar when Dogs of War was running. I really liked the designs for that game (still do).
