Hello guys, first, i dont know if this belong here, but as im planning the use of some models as "count as" for 40k games, i thougth this was the right place...

Assuming you want to play "Foge Fathers" in a 40k game, and you are using "count as" fo that, wich unit you guys would use the "brokks" from deadzone as? For those not presented to it, here are the said "brokks" (not speaking about the brok raiders of fantasy ):

I thought about using them as IG veterans, or Space Marines scouts, but they are tolled for close combat, and booth units are not very usefull in those situations.

So, how you would use them?

If my post show some BAD spelling issues, please forgive-me, english is not my natural language, and i never received formal education on it...

Please, if you think im wrong, correct me (i will try to take it constructively).

If you're only using one unit, then CC scouts are fine. Get a unit of 5 with a teleport homer. Bam! Grabs objectives, pinpoints terminator deepstrikes and is small enough to either not draw fire, or force units to waste fire on them. All for 65 points.

Hm, that is a good point... Indeed, a very nice ideia, and pretty simple too... Thank you. Now i can see how i was narrow minded (this is bugging me out for the last week o.O)...

I think i will add a combi-something on them (probably melta), and use 2 units.

How would you feel if i tell you they are equiped with shotguns instead of Pistols? (Burst Pistols are actually very similar to shotguns in the Forge Father fluff, but the models have all the look of "close combat and pistols" to them).

I know it's not relevant to most people, but the coolest thing I found about all the Forgefathers is that when I get around to playing some games of 40K 2nd edition (for it's ability to be a skirmish game) the Forgefathers are perfect analogs for the units the Squats could field. The Brokkrs pictured above will be Squats armed with bolt pistols, axes and a plasma gunner, and the Forge Guard are perfect for exo-armor. The three versions of Iron Ancestors can be allied-in Space Marine Dreadnoughts, and the mining laser can be a Rapier w/ crew.

I'd be good with that. I think most people would too, as long as you told them beforehand.

Also, don't forget a melta bomb on a sarge and a heavy flamer for your landspeeder storm. The guyz work best in a landspeeder.

Thank you guys.

5 man squad, in a heavy Flamer Landspeeder, with 4 shotguns, 1 combi-melta sarge and tel. homer.

A pretty "round" unit, cheap and disposable, but also usefull if ignored by the enemy. All for less tham 150 points

It's hard to say what's better - shotguns or bp + ccw. I tend to lean towards bp + ccw. The damage output is close to identical but this extra casualty in CC will help them sweep the enemy more reliably.

However, it's solely up to you. They both have their merits as the shotguns are a bit more likely to force a ld check from shooting. And i admit that shotgun scouts look badass! On the other hand the guyz on your picture look like carrying pistols and not shotguns.

What about a mix? Can you mix shotguns and bp?
