Hey guys, just starting up a Space Wolves army at the moment. Iv'e had a couple of games with them so far, I've had mixed results.

Comms Relay.




Basically my Long fangs and grey hunters sit in the bastion while blood claws can make their way to an objective.

Stormwolf comes on second turn (9/10 with the comms relay) carrying Arjac and terminators. Third turn it hovers and unloads the squad who basically just mess up anything they wish to charge.

Need tips people, so feel free to chop and change with this army list as much as you want as im still experimenting with everything.

if your using the wolves unleashed detachment turn 2 your storm wolf comes on without needing any rolls . I'm unsure if the comms relay costed points (never looked at the rules for a bastion) but if it did, cutting that out could let you put those points somewhere else,

also

i tried running that termie load out when i first got into wolves then i dropped them for thunder wolves and never looked back,

id suggest proxying some thunder wolves to see if you like them

Very rarely do i lose more then 2-3 a game. When i say very rarely , i mean veeery rarely.

The list im running right now(yet to try it out) will have 18 thunderwolves and 16 of those are storm shields.

Thunderwolves dont die with storm shields, there hella resilient. You run a lord or Battle Leader up front with runic armor and a shield and he tanks with his 2+ 3++ or if you dont want to risk ti look out sir on a 2+ to one of the fen wovles hes got as wargear(i upgrade) and your laughing.

Please say your just Trolling about Thunderwolves.... Toughness 5, 2 Wounds, and normally a 3+ Inv save.... they are rather difficult to kill.

Now yes, Str 10 Instant Kills them, however you have to save a 3++ inorder for that to happen. How many people are running Str 10 Wpns now a days.... Not many

I'm still constructing my space wolves army, the guys at the hobby shop had me worried more of the thunderwolves. Some said amazing, some said you just gun them all down, why I went building a term army over it. Sadly, I don't know as much as I'd like on the matter.

Either the guys at your hobby shop do not know how to play thunderwolves or have never played someone who knows how to properly play thunder wolves; because saying you are building a terminator army because thunder wolves "just get gunned down" is completely incorrect. Thunder wolves are st 5, 2 wounds, with a 3+(with shield 3++ aswell) and move 12 inches. Terminators, walk 6'' , yea can have a 3+ with there 2+ but they have one wound and get shot to gak right quick. I personally play a list with 18 thunderwolves and it has done great and does better then terminators any day of the week.

I think running terminators in a Stormwolf coming in on turn 2 is not bad at all. To me that seems like one of the few ways to make termies work at all (the other option being to put them in a LRC). But it is quite a lot of points to put in the reserve for a 1500pts game. The 1/10 times they don't come in on turn 2 is probably a lost game.

All in all I think your list is well-thought through and should do fairly well unless you face people who really like to optimize.

Some comments:
- You've kitted out your squads almost to the max. I would probably do away with the CCWs and Frost axe for the Grey hunters. If they are staying inside the bastion most of the game they won't really need melee weapons anyway. Plasma pistols should probably also go, just get a Combi-plasma for the pack leader.

- I assume the WGBL and Lukas goes with the Blood claws? At the moment I think that unit will tend to be completely wiped out by shooting before being able to assault. I suggest you either get them a drop pod or a rhino, or even better a Land raider Crusader. You could also put that unit in the Stormwolf and deep strike the termies (but that makes the termies quite a bit worse). This may be a bit hard to implement in your list though but you could make them a bit more survivable as a footslogging unit by giving the WGBL Runic armor. If you also get him 2 Fenrisian wolves (as wargear) he can LOS wounds to them. The Helm of Durfast on the WGBL seems a bit wasted since he can only use one of the abilities of the helm. I would rather try and squeeze some points out to take a Relic melee weapon or Wulfen stone. I would also take a power fist instead of the frost axe on the pack leader, but that's a minor issue.

- The terminators+Arjac is almost the Arjac's shieldbrothers formation from Champions of fenris. That formation gets +1 Toughness which makes them quite good, but for that to apply you need to have them in a LRC instead of a Stormwolf.
