I'm getting back into Warhammer 40k, as the last time I played, 5th addition had just come out. I began playing Space Marines under 4th edition, then Eldar and finally guard before taking a step back and spending all my time working and school. Recently, my best friend had begun to express interest in getting into the game and just last weekend we picked up codexs for our armies, he got Grey Knights and I got Space Wolves. The guys at the hobby shop we're going to be going too said we can each field 1000 and then play against a 2000 point army, and I was also informed of the supplement to the Space Wolves, Warriors of Fenris, and the special formation there. This is my current build and I would love feedback and ideas to change it. No models have been purchased yet so this is more of deciding what to spend (as we are both poor college students). All feedback is welcome.

I was also considering a drop pod murderclaw as well (all ideas are welcome)

I'd drop the combi-melta on the Lone Wolf, give him a SS so he can go up against MC or whatever and hold out longer. You're only going to get one shot with the Combi and if you miss that's it. Better to stick a shield on him and deepstrike him as close as possible.

I don't have the supplement so I can't advise on how that formation works out. Personally I prefer more troops but that's me.

I prefer the chainfist/shield just in case I come up against armour but that's just me.

But I thought you couldn't run shield/chain fist cause they both work off one part and nothing there can replace the storm bolted like in the codex.

No, you're right. I'm going off the last codex. Thunder Hammer/Shield or Claw/Shield depending on what you're facing. Sorry about that!

TWC seem to be the way to go, throw in some Iron Priests on Thunderwolves to tank shots. Lots of shields and some claws and fists thrown in.

Other than that it kind of depends on your local meta. I'm not one to build against specific lists my opponents might use but I also don't believe in getting my butt kicked every time I show up to the table.

Yea, I wanted an elite army. Considered dreadnoughts but as of right now this is the way I'm planning it.

Dreads are costly, Long Fangs could survive better sometimes in my exp with dreads

You can't take it on a Lone Wolf.

He's lost a lot of his luster, unfortunately. Particularly since his most desirable builds are all comparable cost to a Rune Priest.

I think you should make a army how ever you should like with lots of plasma cannons though

I don't trust plasma in the least

so what some people get a little hot from time to time its not like they blow up or anything
