I agree with xscoutsniperx on most of his points. I would not include the the dog teams and try to sneak in a single Spirit host for one of your flanks and try to get a Wight King to rock with your GG w/ the banner.

Scounsniper's assessment is definitely sound

Direwolves are amazing, for a variety of reasons, extra cheap drops, warmachine hunters, chaff duties, I usually take a min of 4 - 5 man units of them in most any VC list

If you can fit in a wight king with Armor of destiny do so, Banner of Barrows + He can eat the challenges aimed for your necro and vamp

i like the armor of fortune plus enchanted sheild and dragon helm. 2+/5+ vs 4+/4+ great weapon on both. 140pts!!! i but the banner on the unit so doesnt get nuked in a challenge.

plus instead of corpscart maybe find points for crypt horrors. these guys tank and still dishout damage with poison. i run 8 strong no champ.

You can't take enchanted shield, dragonhelm, and armor of fortune on the same character... you are only allowed a single magic armor choice per character according to the BRB right?

So the best a foot vampire can get to is 3+ with either the enchanted shield or the dragonhelm, and if you want a ward save you'll have to take one of the talismans.

Your units are uselessly small. Skeletons and zombies both do nothing but die in CC, and you need enough bodies in the unit so that there'll still be something left after they crumble. If either of them should ever win a combat it will be as a result of their static combat res bonus not their combat prowess.


So combine your skeletons together into one big unit of 40. Drop the spears because spears are gak (parry saves from HW/S are better). The zombies should be combined unless you're planning to spam Invocation of Nehek to make them bigger.

Drop the Grave Guard entirely. You need way more of them to make that unit even remotely worthwhile. Put those points into vargheists or a terrorgheist instead. Or you could drop the grave guard and put those points into making the GG better. This unit should be minimum 30 strong if run 7-wide, or 35-40 strong if run in a horde. Also give them great weapons, as crypt horrors are infinitely better if you're only wanting S4.

Hero vampires are also godawful trash. They're super expensive for a T4 2W hero who dies to a stiff breeze. They also don't have the combat punch to do much of anything. If you want to run a vampire then make it a lord, and give him all the toys (a tricked out VL costs about 400 points, or ~540 with mount and wizard levels).

Master of the Dead really isn't worth it. You just don't get enough extra skeletons to justify the expense.

As for the corpse cart....eh. It's only M4 and can't march, and its range is really small. I find that it gets left behind too easily. Some people swear by it though, so do what you will.


As it stands your list would be pushed over by a stiff breeze. You have a bunch of tiny little units with no hitting power and no durability. VC can't do MSU, you need weight of numbers to drag people down. The only, and I mean ONLY, exception is vargheists, monsters, and vampires. All of these can put out hitting power on their own.




My Suggestions:
Upgrade the vampire hero to a Vampire Lord. Give him Ogre Blade, Quickblood, and Red Fury to make him into a meat grinder (the standard "blender build"). Give him a Talisman of Preservation for protection. Then either give him the Other Trickster's Shard to make him hittier (enemies reroll ward saves) or a dragonhelm/enchanted (or charmed) shield to make him more durable.

I would also recommend putting him on a horse and sticking him with the black knights, to give them hitting power and make the vampire more mobile. That or drop the black knights for grave guard instead.


Combine the skeletons into one unit, and the zombies into another. Use the points saved from dropping command to buy direwolves.

What you want to do with those wizard levels is up to you.
