Counter to the other thread, what model did you have a blast painting?

For me, it was my Space Marine Commander. He actually has been painted a few different times. First, he had the torso from the Company Champion and the head from the Commander. Then, I decided I wanted him to have the captain's cords on with the Roman-style tabard. So I cut him apart (initially intended to keep the Commander head, but could not separate it from the front of the torso, so that stayed with the torso), put the Commander chest with the caped back, put the Roman-tabard on, and used a regular SM helmet on. Then, I thought he didn't look Captain-y enough, so I took the helmet crest from the Sternguard box on top. Then I did some research and found that Centurions (Roman Captains) had side-to-side crests, not front-to-back. So that started bothering me, so I ripped that head off and swapped it for a Sternguard head with laurels on it. He is in his final form now(see my Gallery). Despite never being satisfied with the end result until now, I always had fun with the Captain. He felt like a good warm-up for Pedro Kantor and all of his little details (he is only just starting to get basecoated now).

The other model I had a lot of fun with was my Dreadnought. All the little details and a great deal of plain metal (I love painting Leadbelcher, then washing in Nuln Oil, then detailing with lighter silver, looks very cool when done), he was a blast (also my fourth completed model after three press-fit Tactical Marines). His successor, my Contemptor Mortis with Kheres Assault Cannons and a Cyclone Missile Launcher just hasn't been as fun. I think it is the fact he does have as much visible metal on him.

I'v always had trouble with Warhammer in the painting department as I just dont enjoy painting the models.. So for my Fantasy atmy I payed my sister to paint, and when we started 40k I dident realy paint.. I bought most of the stuff used and ocasionaly tried to paint a bit, But most of the stuff was left unpainted or with the paint they had when I bought it..

That is, Untill I looked into Imperial Guard and got myself a 5 man box of snap fit cadians. For once, I actualy enjoyed painting! I had a good time painting the cadians, And they dident look too bad either! And I liked the fluff and the gameplay, So I'm currently building a guard army ^_^

As weird as it sounds - a Predator.
The thing came together easy in assembly, fit like a charm and I'd dare say I delivered the best paintjob I so far was able to reproduce.

I still remember my first ork. A Big Mek with no equipment-the most useless BM model . But I loved him, loved the little details, the stuff he had draped all over him, the cheerful grin...I was pretty much hooked on orks from that point on.

But as for individual joy to paint, I once used half an ork boy squad and a SM vindicator to create a looted party van and I covered the thing in helpful instructions for driving and operation for Da Boyz (arrow pointing forward that says "Dat Way", arrow pointing on top with "boyz go on ere") as well as the former space marine crew mounted up on spikes. The back of the tank had spare marine limbs and helmets tied to strings with "Jus' Looted" written on the back.

I don't think I've ever had more fun with a model.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

My most fun model to paint so far was probably my Wraithlord. I know, not that interesting of a model to paint but it was the first model I'd painted for over 10 years and I gained a real sense of achievement once it was assembled, painted and finished off with a transfer or two.

Infinity stuff, no question.

But for 40k, the Space Hulk Terminators, Astorath and Dante are among my favourites.

My most fun to paint model probably was a converted count as Sanguinor (actually supposed to be Arkio from fluff).

I think that would be my Heldrake. Everything just went well, the selected scheme looks as I imagined and it was rather quick to paint with all the areas.

I recently finished painting up the DV Librarian and had a blast with it. It was my first stab at some minor conversions (and I do mean minor) and the paint scheme turned out so well. Gave me a huge rush to see it finished, enough to finally tackle a couple Rhinos.

I've quite enjoyed painting my Eldar Guardians. Quite simple in terms of details, quick to paint but great looking.

Stern guard marines. so many little extra details, add ones and bits to make every one unique.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

The dark behind the eyes.

Let's see:

- Vlad von Carstein - Probably the model I've put the most painting effort into. I really love how he came out, especially his head (the skin colour is absolutely perfect for what I wanted - and it happened by accident), and his cape. I guess it's just one of those models where I feel my efforts can be seen - rather than spending a lot of time on some details no one notices.

- Lord Commissar Red Skull - Honestly, I didn't spend as much time on this guy as the above, but perhaps justified as the model isn't especially detailed and Red Skull mostly favours very simple clothes anyway. In any case, whilst it was pretty simplistic (as my conversions tend to be), it was still a fun little project to mess around with.
Spoiler:

- Anything with a Plasmagun or Meltagun - I just enjoy painting glow effects.

- Anything I've converted. As with Red Skull, most of my conversions are very simple - mainly because I have all the Greenstuff skills of the average dandelion. Regardless, I always enjoy painting them. I guess it's just nice to have a little uniqueness in my models - however simplistic.

My Typhus, he was the first of my Death Guard, he is a beautiful model and it was amazing to see my paint scheme come together exactly as I imagined it in my head.

I love painting any Tyranid and my Farseer for my Eldar!
He was quite a fun model and he kicks butt on the table top. One could say kicking butt in style.
Tyranids are full of character, and the only model in the Tyranid range I don't like is the gargoyles.

I've been enjoying painting Draigo recently and he's allmost done, just need to decide on a color for his sword and base and he's done.

I tend to have too many models that needs painting at the same time, so just focusing on a single model was quite enjoyable for once.
