Hey yall, looking to get into WM. Mainly khador. Heres my question. Do i go with the battlegroup or the two player box? I have no need for the other models in the box nor do i have anyone to give them to. I really like the leader (idk the term) in the battlegroup, so i, leaning that way. Any advice in greatly appreciated

I'd go for the battlegroup one. It allows you to learn the game a bit easier and once you get the hang of it you can expand your list more to your own liking. (to fit your playstyle.)

Also, check out my history blog: Minimum Wage Historian, a fun place to check out history that often falls between the couch cushions.

If you are only interested in Khador, I would recommend starting with just the battlebox unless you think that you can find somebody that you could sell the Menoth half of the two player starter set to. It's a lower lump sum which means that it is less pressure when starting out. Additionally, while there are very few truly bad units in Warmachine and Hordes, the Man'O'War Shock Troopers (the extra infantry unit that is included in the 2 player starter set but not the battlebox) are an extremely niche unit that only work well with a small number of warcasters and other units. So typically speaking, they are something that you would rather pick up at a later time if you find yourself wanting them, rather than spend the money on them right off the bat if you might not end up using them regularly.

The only major point in the two-player box's favour is that it's got the core rules, the battleboxes don't.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

I think the two-player starter is more economic for beginners since you get the battlebox, full rules, and an additional unit to learn the rules with.

The protectorate army might not be appealing right now but if you assemble them you'll always have a second faction on hand to demo the game to friends and family on the dining room table. Or you can sell it and make back some of the money you spent.
