Hi there, I was wondering if, in the lore or some obscure supplement or something (including lost archeotech designs that are specifically mentioned), there was an example of some sort of human laser weapon that splits the difference between a multilaser (which is bad against even light vehicles) and the lascannon (which fires slow and isn't that great aganst large amounts of heavily armored super-infantry and masses of light vehicles)? Something that is sort of in the rough conceptual space as a heavy bolter, autocannon, or some plasma something or other?

On moon miranda.

Not that I can think of.

Las weapons generally go in 3's, Lasguns as S3, Multilasers at S6, and Lascannons at S9.

I can't think of anything that's laser based between a Multilaser or Lascannon off the top of my head.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I always thought a Multilaser WAS the Heavy Bolter of the Las family...

Las weapons exist in a million different patterns and formats across the Imperium. It would not surprise me if there were a multi-las with the armor-penetrating power of a hellgun, for example.

There's also all kinds of archaeotech weapons that pack the strength of much larger weapons into pistol-sized packages and the like... not to mention digital weapons.

The main problem being that the tabletop only allows for so much granularity, so all lasweapons of a given type do basically the same thing. So a lasgun is a lasgun, even though in another mechanics system, they may have markedly different profiles. The TT game simplifies it to a single, universal profile.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.
