So round year and half ago, got the Dark Vengeance box set and I left out the chaos lord as found him too much looking like the Lich King from the Warcraft game series & WoW.

But after all that time, my mind started to tick and the idea came to do the Chaos model to look exactly how I found him to look like, so here is the first few base coats already applied onto him, the sword has had some work done on it too but was away from the painting area at the time (unsure what reason was again for this) so here is just the model to show to you all.



For those who think "this will be a short Blog", the model is only a third of the entire Blog as it is Christmas, it will have a bonus to it to give him some atmosphere around him. What do I mean by this? well find out later in the Blog as more of him shall be done and the other sections shall be unveiled...

Another few days, more progress made on this soon to be Lord under the chaos god of Despair, now the bones and the Arctic fur shown in their glory of his kills. Here is what is to be shown of his trophies so far as well as his ever feared blade of an unknown origins of where it came from but possess such power even grey knights would go after.



So having finally time to start getting bit more done of this model as if liked enough after this Blog is finished... maybe the new rise of a chaos god of Despair that fuelled by his and potential army of strong fighters and generals.

Nice beginning. The cold nights are drawing in, and a new chaos stalks the galexy!

Aye decided to try an icy / death style theme and small progress note for hopeful picture taking later, the sword has being done up a bit since seen here.

After the cold, bitter times of preparing this Lord for his throne, his sword Chillrend has finally completed absorbing the souls of his victims and given the blade its former power since he claimed it from the icy heart of the planet he had being entrapped on...



This icy lord is near arisen.. but what is next to emerge?

(off story time)
So completed the sword of this Chaos Lord to be of an icy ethereal style blade which will be written up and scaled to being a relic style weapon with stats built onto it to allow it to be balanced. The body of the Chaos lord himself is 95% complete only his left shoulder needs base coating but the rest is in need of being washed and detailed up. His horns are 100% complete to show the pure icy strength of him.

Looking good, if you ever want a good relic blade, vanguard kit has as huge one, need conversation but over a marine in length.

I love this idea! So many options for conversions to make the undead legions too:
Vampire Counts zombies for cultists,
Zombie Dragon for Sindragosa (Heldrake),
Helbrutes for Festergut and Rotface
Fabius Bile for Professor Putricide perhaps?

Oh my my Ashtastic... what a very good idea my brother will be like "oh god not another army" but that is ideal, will certainly be a whole unique look for DakkaDakka

I see now by that, am planning on making some unique command like figures to serve under my Lich King style lord so will take that blade into mind

Nice stuff. Really imaginative and I really like that blue. Keep up the good work.You know if you're considering making underlings for him the mantic zombie soldiers would be a good choice unless you were wanting to stick strictly to GW.

Ah I see M138, have recently ordered a pack of them as read your comment, got idea of making the ice world (but wasn't 100% iced) as like a Hive world in progress till the Lich Lord emerged, so can use them Zombies as like hive world citizens / workers that had being moved there to start off production

Cold plasma lol?
Its like firing the condensed firey core of a star, even the hardened multi layered terminaitor armour is not guaranteed proof against it.

Cold? Or classic chaos excuse, its warp magic?

As the cold intensified, so did the Lich Lord's strength as he became complete on this night... showing his despairing armour to make his opponents lose their will to fight...



As now his next step to showing his domain... Is yet to come...

So he is finally completed in model wise of painting and is now to have his base done up in the icy terrain, his Pistol would be a pure channel of warp energies, changing its heat into of pure frozen despair, freezing his opponents inside and outside with his shots, his sword Chillrend having a most deathly and icy pressence engulfing itself and the area around him.

As the Lich Lord stands tall in his Despair striking posture, his aura emits around, letting sheer icy energy from him, freezing around where he stands.

So today made some head way of starting the final 2/3 of this starting of what is to be (after deciding) a long term Blog, so this Lich Lord will be the First centre piece model in this long term army build up. As to start this off, this Lich Lord will be given his own Diorama piece to keep him presentable and to give some atmosphere when viewing him (can thank Warhammer Fest for this lol)

Looking great!

Very excited for the diorama.

Aiming to make it look very good and possible tier of a bigger Diorama for future if Lich Lord wants an army on show too lol

All parts are ready to be glued on, biggest pain will be painting the entire thing in case any foam or foam board gets eaten away lol

Basic acrilic like system 3 will most likely hardly harm the foam.

Will take that into mind will look for that kind of paint as base coat to entire thing as once got base coat on, can use my normal paints to bring the look to life or as close as despair striking ice can be lol

The Lich Lord demanding his frozen despair striking lands to be forged still looming over me, today was a long and very cold day, even by touching the very to be ice felt as if it would freeze to my body if kept in physical contact for too long.



In all hope to not lose myself to his Despairing aura and appearance, I had now 24 hours to finish crafting his place of power for all to see...


(Off Story Time)
So today spent a few hours working on getting this entire Diorama platform painted but and given a blue base coat for the surfaces of the icy surface. The edges are kept untouched as a nice effect is to be done there (Hooray for living in view of Austrian Alps at winter for 2 years!) and the two ruined walls shall be done up to show a real feeling of despair had taken place there when my Lord assaulted the area and claimed the final section of the military power on the growing hive world construction.

Well It was got from Amazon and its called Blue foam Board (simple name I know should be something better x) )

So today managed to get all but 2 small parts done on this diorama which will be done tomorrow as only requires a few minutes to complete might give a second layer of snow depending how it looks after slept on idea of what to be done on it

Looking nice, the snow covers the land and a un natural winds chills deep to the very heart.

The coldest night rushed through the area focusing on the icy despair, removing all heat as the last bit of any hope was removed as the Lord emerged from his wait and set himself onto the ice and frost that remains of Compound 977...



Now the last remaining form of Imperium life is engulfed by the icy tombs which they now slumber, the Lord takes his placement where the Governor of the planet once stood bellowing his voice of the Emperor's Law, now stands a beacon of pure Despair & Death.

So today finally completed the last few details still needed to be done and the Lord now placed onto the diorama, pictures taken as if someone was walking up to it to see him standing round the ice that has trapped countless lives on the "Late Hive World Development". It has being a lot of fun doing this Blog and the Diorama, so much fun that it may even continue in the up coming new year. But time will tell folks.
