So I'm looking into getting into Warmachine, specifically Cryx. Is their battlegroup worth a damn?

It's great for learning the game and beyond that, all the pieces, especially Denny are viable.

Excellent. Other than the quickbook, is there any good overviews of WarmaHordes, preferably a Youtube vid?

It is good for learning the game. And for what you get it is pretty cheap.

That said, the slayer doesn't see much use. But it can be converted/upgraded. And the arcnodes may or may not see a lot of use depending on which ones you find to be the best for you. I myself get more mileage out of the two nightwretches I got vs the battlebox arcnodes. But if you like the ones in the box, great.

And pDenny is still my main caster.

But since you can often find the battlebox for less than MSRP (it is $35 on amazon prime) it is a real steal. And it let's you learn the faction and the game. Also gives you models to practice your paint scheme on. And the plastic slayer can be converted to a number of other jacks.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Well heavies in general don't get used much at all(besides Deathjack) by Cryx. They have Banes for heavy hitting power.

That said, the Slayer is a good jack. Most of the stuff in Cryx is quite good, it just suffers from NotBanesAsphyxiousDenegraGoreshadeorSatyxisitis

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.
