Subject: Looking for Plastic / Resin Sci-fi Miniatures at the same scale as 40k

Hey everybody,
I'm looking for miniature manufacturers (and places that sell their stuff) that create plastic (or some sort of resin, in other words NOT metal) miniatures that are the same scale as Warhammer 40k, and that would fit into the sci-fi genre.
The ones I can list off the top of my head are:
Mantic Game's Games (sold lots of places)
Rackham's AT-43 (bought some from Miniature Market)
Victoria Miniatures "Imperial Guard" stuff
Chapterhouse
I'm not looking for conversion bits, but actual miniatures, although I don't mind if they are meant to replace 40k miniatures (like a lot of Chapterhouse's stuff, or Mantic's stuff).
Thanks!

I recommend you take a look at the polish miniatures post in the news and rumers forum. If you are looking for imp. Guard look at Dreamforge-games for some basic troop types. Maxmini, puppets war do some cool stuff also.

Great ideas - thanks! I forgot about some of those, and I'll check out the New and Rumours you were talking about.
Thanks! Automatically Appended Next Post: Ok, I've looked, but I can't seem to find the thread you are talking about. Do you mind linking it here?

Proxie minis and EM4 both have very cheap sci fi minis. Prince August (or whatever that site is called) still sells boxes of old plastic Warzone minis at 80 minis for 40ish dollars, I think. Automatically Appended Next Post: If you can find Defiance Games UAMC, they were plastic and pretty decent.

We wish we could give you a hand with our small but planned to be expanded range, however our current and future products as far as we can see will be casted in metal due to lack of any resin casters in North America. We will see in the future if a company comes up here able to produce quality resin and maintain a good delivery time. For other companies the ones mentioned above will be your best bet, ( also I will add in http://trollforged.com/store/trollcast.html as they do cast some resin miniatures and their Alien range from their kickstarter in particular are some of thee if not the best current "aliens" style aliens out their) their are a few others who have great ranges but they are also in pewter metal. good luck Mathew from mini wargaming!.

I think that maybe you haven't done much research for casters, I know of several places in the US that do resin casting. Stating that there aren't any is a bit uninformed and misleading.

You may also try Wargames Factory, they have some shocktroopers in greatcoats.
The sculpts have their issues, but are inexpensive and easy to assemble.

Dust tactics. While not technically future sci-fi, I think the ministry look awesome, they're plastic, and cost less than GW minis. I think they could make great proxies for 40k stuff if that's specifically what you're after.

Please by all means do inform me of the resin casters you know of, From my searching the few that I have found either use a material that is unsuitable for miniatures being far too fragile and brittle of a resin compared with anything else other companies use for their products or the company's were on and off businesses and we would end up waiting for months before hearing back from them. Their is currently one who I feel would be great which is TrollForge , however last time we checked they were backed up with casting commissions and said they would not be ready to take on any more commissions until a later date.
Were sorry if this sounded misleading, we just have had a very poor experience trying to find anyone in North America ( in particularly Canada) who casts with a quality resin and is able to maintain some reasonable level of reliability. We know their are companies such as yourself that do their own resin casting, however for finding one that takes up commissions we have yet to find one. However if you know of a few then please do send them to us and we will check them out and see if we can get something worked out.
hope we did not offend - Shawn.

The Samaritans are very good sculpts, but they come out a bit off in restic, with some warping, mold lines that need to be cut instead of scraped off, and some shallow detail in places. So long as you are prepared to deal with restic, they are very good minis. I just ordered a second Box of Sedition Wars because of this.
Oh, and half of them don't have helmets.

Pretty sure PDC is dead in the water. Oddly enough, they actually delivered all their kickstarter rewards before disappearing.

If you want a US based resin caster have a chat to Valiant as I've had very nice resin minis they've done for a variety of companies (they are reputed to be pretty good about getting stuff cast when they say they will too)

They still have a website for their industrial plastics business, but it has next to noting about their gaming work.

It does not seem possible to buy any of their miniatures sprues. It seems odd that they would have retired tools that were already paid for.

The tools that they used for their not-bolters were the same as the prototypes - not the ones they promised during the KS which were supposed to have scopes and other various add-ons and gubbins. There's also a fair bit of ...what's it called when there's slightly less plastic shot into the sprue then there should be, and you end up with indents in the detail. That.

Yeah, there were some beginner issues with each of their sprues, but It seemed like they were going places. I would love to have bought more tracked cannon and heavy weapons after seeing the results.
And I think that's called underfill or dimpling. (Which would be an amazing name for a Hobbit: Dimpling Underfill, notorious leaf-smoker.)
