I'm at a loss.

I think we're going to switch from 50 point standard lists
(which include theme forces) to 35 point theme forces. 35
already limits list building for me. To make them theme
forces, though, that's a toughie. Any suggestions for what
you've found fun at 35?

ALso interested in Hordes in particular as I have a hard time
trying to fulfill theme force requirements while leaving enough
warbeasts in my lists as fury batteries. However, either
Warmachine or Hordes is fine.

I personally like Mortenebra Infernal Machines Tier 4:

Morty +4
-Deryliss
-Slayer
-Seether
-Harrower
-Deathjack
Warwitch Siren
Warwitch Siren
Necrotech & Scrap Thrall
Necrotech & Scrap Thrall

You can optimize it more for superior Slayer apocalypse, but this is what I run because I own it.

Syntherion: The Great Machine Tier 4

Syntherion +6
-Corollary
-Any three other jacks
-Free Galvanizer!
Optifex directive

Add jacks/servitors as you please.

These are both obviously jack heavy builds, but that makes them easier at 35. Plus they fill the list with things jack casters love. I've done Barnabus tier 4 for Hordes, but under 50 you lose the real benefit of FA:U gatorman posses.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Not as Good as a Minion

Brisbane

The Gravediggers! Greatest theme force this side of ever. At 35 points its hard to get to tier 4, but you still get a Stormclad bullet and a heap of trenchers. What more do you need in life?

So something like this;

Major Victoria Haley
-Stormclad
-Thorn
Captain Maxwell Finn
Min Trencher Commandos
Max Trencher Infantry
-Trencher Infantry Officer and Sniper

Just writing about them makes me want to run them tonight at the store...

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

pCaine

Black 13th
Gun Mages + UA
- Hunter
Gun Mages + UA

Gun Mages

Little bit of armour cracking, whole lotta infantry clearing and amazing board control.

I also like the journeyman pBaldur

Baldur
- Megalith
- Woldwarden
- Woldguardian
Shifting Stones
Sentry Stone
Woldstalkers
Woldstalkers

This list is also financially great as it cost me less than £100 new.

Cygnar (133) | 82% painted - Menoth (65) | 92% painted
Mercenaries (52) | 53% painted - Circle Orboros (42) | 92% painted - Minions (20) | 0% painted

Systems I play : Warmachine, Hordes, Star Wars X-Wing, Star Trek Attack Wing, Malifaux & Bolt Action.

Due to my long documented love affair with Axis I couldn't help but throw this out as a first option.

This is a 35 point tier 4 Axis list. (admittedly it doesn't really use the Enigma Foundry spam the tier was made for, but the discount gave me a free optifex directive). Alternatively you can drop the reductors and go with 4 foundries...but at that point it starts to become absurd.

Axis, the Harmonic Enforcer (*6pts)
* Corollary (3pts)
* Inverter (8pts)
* Inverter (8pts)
Obstructors (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
Obstructors (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
Optifex Directive (Leader and 2 Grunts) (2pts)
Reductors (Leader and 5 Grunts) (4pts)
Enigma Foundry (2pts)
Enigma Foundry (2pts)

Hordes is full of good 35 point themes

Skorne:

Rasheth
Bronzeback
Gladiator
Gladiator
Full Posse
min Paingivers
2x Agonizers
Paingiver Task Master

This list is super powerful and will wreck anything in melee

Naaresh
3x Archidon
2x Min Beast Handlers
2x Nihilators

This list is super fast, you can have your entire army 28" up the field turn 1.

Legion:

pThags
Spawning Vessel
3x Beast Mistressses each with a Stinger

Then season to taste, that's 12 points as the Stingers on the Beast mistresses are free and tier 4, if you can max it out with a 3 Spawning Vessels, and 3-4 Beast Mistresses, all together you'll have at minimum 18 extra points over the course of the game, not counting pThags feat Target.

Vayl2
I don't even have to write a list, if you're taking Vayl2 it's already in tier.

Mad dogs of wAr.

Butcher2.

6 squads of doom reavers.

I also hear great things about claws of the dragon (butcher 1) and charge of the horse lords (vlad3)

I disagree.

It's fine both ways.

I've ran it without ua's for a long time mate and done fine (including placing at tournaments). They won't save the list from its hard match ups. Ua's have value, but it comes at a cost. Ultimately, the 'silence, bigger control area and tough, but far fewer doomies' versus the alternative of 'even more/all the doomies' simply comes down to preference.both have their merits (at 50pts, thats 10 'naked' doomie squads or 7 with the ua).

and I've got nine squads of the buggers for 50pts. Im running them all!

More doom reavers is never bad.

Well, not for the player running it. With so many doom reavers
it can be tougher to kill them all, and Tough only saves so many
of them (and tough rolls even nullifies their usefulness. And
clever players can work around Berserk without needing
silence).

I think silence is a god send, you can swarm your average arm, average def hard hitters as much as you want but come up against some eleaps, fire or gun lines and see how it goes, you have too much to think about to make it relly effective...

Tough ain't gonna save you against those things though.... :( fine, it'll save a third of your dudes, but you have 30odd percent less dudes to begin with...

Mad dogs of war, whether with tough, or more bodies melts against heavy gunlines or anything with inhospitable ground/rough terrain creation.

Regardless, against those choices, you use your other list.

Mad dogs is a skew. This is simply a consequence.

I believe that is the point. You get benefits for using fluffy lists that are not usually effective.

Unless you run the NQ version of Zerkova's tier, which is probably the best way to run her.

Got to love it when you end up with those few amazing tier lists that are pretty much "take everything you would take already...and have free bonuses for taking it."
