OK, I think I have this started out...the only issues I have are, 1, no Mawloc. I have tremendous luck with Mawloc, and it just feels strange not to have one. 2, only one Tyrannocyte.
Right now it is for the Toxicrene, or the Tervigon. I like to pod both.
"Fangs of the leviathan"
Winged Dakka'rant, Electro
Winged Tyrant, as above
Tervigon, Electro
Hormagaunts,x15
Hormagaunts,x15
Mycocyte
Zoey "brood", x1
Zoey, as above
Dakkafex
Dakkafex
Tyrannocyte
Total cost, 1325
Hypertoxic Node: 525
Winged Tyrant, Maw claws, Toxic, Thorax hive. 230? I am actually tempted to use dessicator because a "IK" Template seems kinda cool.
Toxicrene
Venothrope "Broods", x3
That makes 1850.

Due to my health issues I can't do much gaming. But this does look like a promising list.

What are your plans for the hormagaunts? There doesn't seem like much for them to screen for, especially since one monster is podding in. If pod the toxicrene, since he needs to be in melee and you need your tervigon for synapse. I don't think two individual zoanthropes are gonna cut it.

Hormies, Zoey ,and Veno make a "Bug Star", I plan on a Dakkafex for each. Add in the Winged Tyrants and you get decent pressure on the foe. Pod in the Toxicrene, and hopefully, the foe gets overwhelmed. The Tervigon is for mid field SyNapse, and should spawn plenty of objective campers (maybe )
The "plan" is to fly the hyper toxic Winged Tyrant into range of the Toxicrene, so the cool "supa toxic" power kicks in.
The third Veno is for T1, then it can babysit the Tervigon I suppose.

Ok. So my main concern with the bug star approach is that you have very little synapse covering each star. The scary part is that both hormagaunts and carnifexen have low leadership and a good chance to eat themselves when they fail. Not as scary for the carnifex since they are single model units, but they very well may lose their screen units by taking out a single t4, 2 wound model

Yeah, I prefer to run Zoeys in Broods of x2, for durability. But the points just aren't available. Hopefully 3 Winged Tyrants will keep the foe distracted. If the pod arrives early then it will be a rare foe that takes time to snipe out the Zoey. The Bugstars advance as fast as possible, so it's a fair possability that a Tyrant will be nearby ( via Dominate)
I suppose an alternate build would be to drop both Dakkafexen, and take twin Mawlocs. Then I can plow the Hormies into tunnelling Rippers... But a list needs to fit your style, and I am happier running Dakkafexen down the middle

I totally agree on the style aspect. Its why i refuse to run dakkafexes. I hate how their little guns look, despite how good they are. I also always run hormagaunts as my troops, they're one of my favorite units.
You're right about the zoanthropes not being a super high priority. Thats just what i saw as a potential issue. Should work alright.

The other "point" (that I forgot to adress ) is that this is a Leviatan CAD, so I get to 're-roll IB.
If you are handy, you can rig up nicer Devourers with a little green stuff, and the like. I plan on using the jumbo Scything Talons as a base. I have seen a modified heavy cannon used, and it looks just fine.

And by "fiddly" you mean "like a penis." I'm sorry I just can't get over how phallic the damn devourers look.

Plenty of folks have used the hive arms off of Tyrannofex, it looks kinda like a mantis, several of the batreps have one, or two rigged that way. I think it looks fine on a Tyrant with wings, and it's dang useless otherwise.
I modified Crushing Claws myself. But it was a bit of a project. If you have bags of cash, FW sells very nice ones.

Well, still messing around with this list. It looks to be nice and modular, this AM, I looked at running a wreaker node, and using SkyTyrant ( + Mawloc) they all look pretty good. And the Sheild of Baal formation only runs 550, so it is a possible module as well.

Well, of the variants, the best looks like SkyTyrant, and a Mawloc. it also frees up 20 points for something nice.
I built it as minimal Gargoyles, so I could fit a Mawloc in. I could use my Winged Assassin, me/vs, toxic, ancient enemy...245? Then add x20 Gargoyles. That should run 365, add a Mawloc, and that is 505, 20 less than the Hypertoxic, but it has no Shroud, so the base list would have to change a little.

This is a basic sketch of a SkyTyrant version...(built for max agro)
Winged Dakka'rant
two more just the same....720
Troops: Hormies, x15 75
Troops: Rippers, Tunneling 45
Troops: Myconid (?) 15
Elite: Zoey
Elite: Veno
Heavy: Dakkafex 150
Heavy: Mawloc
SkyTyrant: Wings, LW/ BS, Prefered Enemy, Thorax: Electro bugs, and x20 Gargoyles... 500?
I think that adds to 1775 or so...? So I can toss on a Fighter Ace (a must take IMHO) and still have points for modding this and that. Once I get this hashed out I'll give it a post...4 Tyrants should rawk!
