Ok I know a strange question probably coming from me. I also understand that "good looking" is subjective as people have different tastes, hers tend to fall into Bishonen, JRock, Kpop style. What she usually finds are what she calls "wrestlers" like the bulky Space Marines, someone who is old gruffy with beards or bulging muscles. There are alien races that tend to be less bulky but she likes playing humans. The past few months I have been heavily working on getting my wife to play miniatures games with me and the kids. She loves gaming but it is hard to get into a game unless the miniatures or artwork attracts her interest into it, even if the mechanics are great. I've gotten her into Infinity, since there is a lot of miniatures choices that meets her criteria and she also gets the Asian element and background she likes.

We were playing Zombicide 3 a couple weeks back and she really wasn't interested in it. I printed out some custom cards then swapped in a couple Infinity characters and this week when she played she had a great time. She did say having better looking miniatures that she likes improves her interest. Then I started to try to find modern, scifi and even fantasy based male figures that could be used for proxies in games. There are lot of female options that range from functional to pure cheesecake but male humans tend to be flat and the same. They are either bulk wrestlers or old/bald bearded people... The couple times I have found something that may be passable. I end up falling back to Infinity miniatures but there aren't a lot of civilian choices for it.

I've checked Reaper but there are a lot of them and quality in terms of how the sculpt looks range from good to bad. I've tried Hasslefree Miniatures but like Reaper its a bit of the same. I tend to see the female miniatures tend to be better quality, properly proportioned compared to male miniatures.

What other options are there?

I had News and Rumors opened on one tab and was posting in General Discussions on the other... for some reason after submitting it ended up in News and Rumors.

I've asked a mod to move it.

I'm still going through, as there are a lot. There are some that are good and some that just look strange, although it could simply be the pictures. The military and troopers seem decent, female sculpts seem pretty good but the regular civilian style male seems to vary. Although now that I say that Resin Master - Finn isn't that bad. Most still are wrestler bulky bodies, except for the troopers but then those are helmeted. To quote my wife, "Its all about the hair". Don't ask me... Some miniatures I thought would be fine, she has flat out said nope.

What sort of games are you looking to use these models for? Sci-fi, steampunk, wild west, modern/post-apoc, etc?

Also, I'd argue that Zombicide has some of the best single piece plastic sculpts on the market right now. Some of the sculpts do fall a bit flat (partly because I think they base the sculpt off the concept art, which is sometimes meh), but several are simply amazing. The core 12 in the Season 3 box are some of the best they've done, and none of them really scream over the top to me. The 4 coming out in Angry Neighbors are also based on real people, so that will help.

Aside from some of his barbarian sculpts (which, let's face it, are designed to look absurdly huge that way), I find Kev White's sculpts to be some of the most accurately proportioned miniatures out there.

For Fantasy look at Tre Manor's ranges, called Red Box Games. He sculpts with a realistic 30mm scale in mind.

There's some nice options in Malifaux if you're looking for something different. Both genders in fact.

I currently only have Zombicide 3 pieces. I also haven't painted them yet which I think will definitely help. They are a bit flat but I think painted up they would be fine, definitely hard to see the details in the colored plastic as is though.

Scifi is mostly met with Infinity but having more scifi doesn't hurt. Looking for more modern. I love the Wild West Exodus sculpts unfortunately all of them tend to be bearded except for one that pretty flat.. no one shaves in the Wild West I guess. LOL!

I'll take a look at the suggestions. Thanks.

Seems that you've already seen the Infinity miniatures. The Aleph line especially has well-shaven male miniatures that aren't super-bulky modybuilders that may fall into the prettyboy stereotype.

Wargames Factory makes multi part survivors, male and female so you can tailor the model to your Mrs' whims.

Also take a looks at Hasslefree, Foundary and Reaper miniatures (or any of a huge number of othe companies). They all sell loads of Modern or near future miniatures she might like.

I don't know how useful they'd be outside of the game they're designed for, but have you looked at Cypher Studios, Anima Tactics? The only aesthetic they have is anime.

I don't think there's a beard to be found in the range. Maybe a mustache.

Definitely Infinity or Kingdom Death. Some Dark Sword miniatures might also work, but both Infinity and Kingdom Death fills the bishounen fans demographic.

There's a Wyrd Through the Breach kit coming soon that lets you make male models for the RPG (there's a female one too) I dunno if it would work for you? They might not fit in like a slick scifi game though, but for that I'd probably suggest Infinity, as has been suggested a lot already.

You might have luck looking at pulp figures - Artizan Designs' Thrilling Tales has one that I statted up for Zombicide way back when the game was new. (Not a 'good looking male' though - it was Mad Jack the Lighthouse Keeper. Ayuh.)

Bob Murch has Pulp Figures.

Mark Copplestone has Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Future Wars.

RAFM has the USX line.

And I have been waiting for those multi part plastics from Wyrd.
