In 2k points you really should have a level 4 wizard. I would drop the shadow dancer and put those extra points into upgrading one of your level 2 wizards. The 5 scouts probably arent worth it. Also consider getting some wild riders.

-They shall be my finest Ultrasmurfs. Built and painted so that they may wreck the faces of those that oppose them!
-My young pupil... you seem to have this unholy addiction to Ultramarines. WE MUST TEST YOU FOR HERESY. -Inquisitor mean man
Ultramarine army- 10k
Imperial knights- 2
Vampire counts- 2k
Eternity King- 3k
Dark Eldar: Eternal Thorn 1300pts
And lots of other armies, I just cant fit them here

I do not agree, Dryads are fine. Yes they got nerfed but they can really do well if uses properly. Treekins are also nice, they just aren't combat monsters anymore, but can be a pretty effective anvil.

I would downgrade the beast mage to lvl 1 and give him a scroll. You really only need signature spell to make dryads S4 T5 or Treekins S5 T6, whichever is in combat.

Agreed on a lvl 4 at 2000 pts. However, I do not really like Fire as I feel it doesn't bring a whole lot to the wood elves. I usually either take High, Life, Shadow or Death. I haven't tried Dark yet... but I really want to.

Wild Riders are great and it seems they are always the one to do the heavy lifting. If you don't have any, they are the models you want to get next.

Have you considered getting a captain on great stag, hunter's helm and hail of doom arrows? Put him in the Wild Riders and enjoy!

Depending on the lore you pick, you might be better with a horde of 30 archers than 2 units of 15. Trueflights are ok but hagbanes are both better and cheaper, so horde these guy up with 30 poison shots... who cares you only hit on 5 or 6? 6s are wounds anyway.

Waywatchers already deal with heavy armor, your scouts could take something else than bodkins. Trueflights on them to shoot troops in buildings works wonder. Hagbane as usual are fantastic too.

I never played the old wood elves and I dont see the dryads like a bad unit. Hatred, T4, 2 attacks, forest spirit for 11 pts. For me, they are good. Same for the Tree Kins, Those two units are made to slow down others until the storm of arrows.

I never been a big fan of horde unit (my 40k SM side) and more if is only one unit.... One big good spell can remove the core of the army.

Loosing the scouts and one warhawk and a little bit of list manipulation I can add 5 wildriders and upgrade my shadowdancer to a lvl1 lord of shadow.

The problem with dryads is that the rest of the wood elf book makes them pointless.

You have Eternal Guard who bleed less combat res and are stubborn.

Or you have Glade Guard who are an infinitely better way to spend core points.

You can't even take a unit of 8 dryads any more, which was all they were good for in the last book. A 96 point unit that allows you to double flee your more expensive glade guard.

If you're planning on needing a steadfast anvil in a wood elf army, you're playing the army wrong.

No. You're playing an army that shouldn't hit combat. If your opponent gets close enough to you to make you need an anvil, you've lost the game anyway.

Your only combat should be from Wild Riders, as they're the units that mop up.
