So this just popped up on the Warhammer App

http://www.vermintide.com/

The game seems to focus on Skaven during the end times and there is a timer for about 6 days going

http://www.neoseeker.com/news/26434-mysterious-warhammer-the-end-times-vermintide-revealed-the-horned-rat-smiles/

Finnish gaming magazine Pelaaja has released the cover of their upcoming magazine, revealing an as-yet unannounced title set in the Warhammer universe. Introducing Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide, a Games Workshop licensed title apparently themed around the race of the rat-men known as the Skaven. Leaked scans of the game imply it is likely an FPS, but little information is available. A countdown website has gone live with less than 24 hours remaining at vermintide.com.

The cover-art for Pelaaja features a horde of Skaven warriors carrying what looks to be a Skaven prophet of The Horned Rat god, a Grey Seer, on a litter. The Grey Seers are like the shamans of the Skaven race, they speak for The Horned Rat and push the respective clans into war as needed. I say it's likely a Grey Seer because of the skull cap the Skaven is wearing, which has four horns much like The Horned Rat is supposed to have. Of course, it could also potentially be a Lord of Decay, one of the 12 clan leaders of the Skaven race, but it's much more likely to just be a Grey Seer.

As of yet I don't believe there exists an FPS set in the Warhammer fantasy universe. THQ published a series of action games and even an FPS set in the Warhammer 40K universe, so perhaps Vermintide is Game Workshop recuperating from THQ's bankruptcy and finding another developer and publisher wanting to make this type of game. Rumor is the game developed by Fatshark, the Stockholm studio responsible for both Lead & Gold and War of the Roses -- shooting and melee first-person combat games.

Expect more information on Warhammer: The End Times - Vermintide in the next 24 hours. How did a Finnish magazine get the exclusive reveal for what sounds like a potentially hype game, anyway? No news on platforms yet, but my bet is this is a console and PC multi-platform title.

Scan of some gameplay, apparently.

It'd be neat if you played as a Skaven killing everything else in the name of the Horned Rat. Sadly more likely you'll be playing as a human killing hordes of Skaven.

@TiamatRoar: On the plus side you get to apply foot to Skaven butt and hear them run off screaming like Grunts from Halo!

Hmm, if this ends up on either Xbox at a reasonable price, I might be tempted. If you can play as an Imperial swordsman armed only a blade, pistol and feathery hat, hours of fun could be had... Although I do hope it features more than just Skaven. Some Orcs or Beastmen would be nice.

Ugh. I hate melee games from the first person. I'd have loved a 3rd person hack n slash.

Yeah, this could be pretty cool! It depends on the price and early reviews, but from that pic, the holy trinity of pistol, sword and hat certainly seem present.

Now there`s something that would really make me consider getting it, if the main character was voiced by him.

meh, would have been cooler to be a group of Eshin assassins or something working FOR the skaven.

I mean, as a human/good guy, you know what you're doing in the game is essentially meaningless. The End Times hasn't been kind to them.

Edit; The Heroes page on Vermintide has shadows of the PCs. Looks like a Witch Hunter, second one might be some kind of elf, third is definitely a dwarf, fourth I would guess is some kind of knight and the last is maybe a ghoul or something? Doubt it's a greenskin, but it could be some kind of flaggelant or something.

Given the development time on a game like this, makes me wonder how long they've had the End Times in the works.

I thought it'd be a Free Company guy.

Also, the game will be for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.

Whaaaaaaat, shocker! Someone had a post on neogaf about a magazine that had details last night but couldnt post here as I was on my mobile but it sounded like L4D warhammer.

The game gods are truly blessing us this year, Total War warhammer find and now this.

Can.not. . wait.

One of the heroes silhouette looks very crooked and ragged, almost vampire like. I really hope so.

Its going to be sweet being able to see part of the under-empire in moving picture form.

Would prefer 3rd person to 1st, but that's just due to me never being a big FPS fan.

Plus I don't have a current system to run the game on. Oh well.

Also would have been way more fun to be an Eshin assassin wasting all those top dwellers instead. Devil May Cry style fighting rats? Yes please.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

If this game has melee combat that is similar to that found in Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, meaty, visceral, bloody, viscous and entertaining then this game will be quite a bit of fun!

The thing that actually surprised me the most is that the witch hunter's positions actually resemble sensible swordsmanship.
