Hey all, so with the new codex and because I have a particular fondness for Illuminor Szeras I put together the following attempt at a Necron gunline. Now I'm not entirely sure of the legality of putting Szeras in a Ghost Ark and measuring his 6" Technomancer aura from the Ark, but I'm guessing it falls into the same category as the Dark Angel banners.
So the general idea is to deploy the mass of Warriors in the center and around them place the Immortals, the Stalkers and Szeras riding in his own personal Ghost Ark. Szeras upgrades the Warriors and grants a 6" bubble of +1 RP rolls to the Immortals and Warriors from within the Ark (again may or may not work).
The Stalkers will provide a 6" bubble of +1 BS each to the Warriors and Immortals. If the Warriors get the BS5 upgrade from Szeras I think the multiple modifiers rule will bone me here but otherwise it's pretty useful. With the Stalkers I took the Heavy Gauss Cannons because of points spare but given that they will be marching with the Warriors/Immortals, it may be worth keep the standard Heat Ray.
For the Barges and Ark, I'm not sure if I should just go with the Annihilation Nexus formation to keep my Ark alive and shooting a little longer though I'm shying away from them for the moment till I get a handle on the new 'dex.
An alternative way of playing Szeras would be to remove the Ghost Ark and put him and another Cryptek, armed with a Chronometron to give the Warriors some defense against AP4 and lower shooting, though I wonder if the 6" bubble would be enough then. Another way I was thinking would be to drop Szeras altogether and take a Lord with a Res Orb and focus on keeping the Warriors up.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Why Tesla on the Immortals? You get basically no advantage with Tesla anymore.
You lack mobility and range which is not a good place to be. If someone sits 36" away from you, you have 2 HGCs and the Doomsday cannon and that's it (the later can be avoided as it drops to 24" range when it moves).
Also Szeras seems pointless as you could just take a Decurion and get +1 RPs all round. The formations seem a good way to get lots out of the codex. Otherwise your list seems like it wants to have been made with the old Codex. I would look at Destroyers, Wraiths and Tomb Blades again it seems odd to seea list without at least 1 of those units present.

That's fair enough. I still like the volume of fire from Tesla and +12" range. Though you're right, the Snapshot change has hit Tesla hard. The problem with the Decurion is trying to find a way to take the Triarch Stalkers without spending the additional points for the 4 Praetorian squads. At 1500 points the Decurion and the formations are hard to fit.
I think I'll look into taking some Tomb Blades though.

Tesla and gauss have the same range. You do marginally more S5 hits at 12->24" with Tesla but less at <12" and you don't have Ap4, auto wound on 6 & auto glance on 6. Add in that it is easy as pie to get relentless and all of Teslas advantages have now evaporated.
Remember you can take Stalkers in squadrons now and Praetorians are actually quite good in this book. Yes the Decision comes with some hefty taxes but is worth it. Just building a list from the formations is also very viable.

I'd missed that they could squadron, I may have to look into that as two squads of TP isnt that painful.
On Gauss vs Tesla, it will probably come down to not wanting to rearm a 10 man squad again more than anything else. But I take your point.

I still think the Nightscythe is one of the best flyers in the game. It is just no longer so ludicrously better than everything else that you'd be a fool to take it. Let's compare it to a Storm talon (often seen in SM lists). There are just 5 points difference. Yet in a straight shoot out the odds are ludicrously in favour of the Night scythe (as in the Stalon has about a 25% chance to kill the NS where as the NS has about an 80% chance to kill the Stalon). Add in the transport capacity that breaks all the downsides of being a flyer transport and the thing should cost in the region of 180 points compared to a Stalon (or indeed a Crimson Hunter or Helldrake).
But hey there are other good options now and the loss of the Haywire and Death & Despair squads has curtailed the need for the Nightscythe.

Its a unit of stalkers for the formation so you only need to pay for 10 Praetorians for up to 3 stalkers.
