Just wanted to share the interesting discovery. I've found this metal Skaven pin in my Necron pre-order box.
Apparently they are adding freebies now or at least throw small 'bonuses' to random packs If it matters - I ordered Cryptek Edition

I got one with my Thanquol book too I'd have thought they'd do something necrony for the Necron release... I think some people got a notebook with Nagash.

Seemingly a nice bonus, but getting a 20-30% discount from other retailers is much more worthwhile than just a pin. If they can buy people's hearts and minds with a cheap 10cent pin, then GW totally deserves all their customers.

I got a skaven pin on a customer service claim shipment. My brother plays skaven so that's pretty cool.

I agree. If it wasn't for limited edition Necron Codex - I would be buying the standard version in my FLGS where I have 20% discount
But it's nice to get a bonus when you have to order something via GW in-store pickup.

And the guy from the company had written "THANKS!" on the invoice.

There is some small 'bubbles' of us still, in these end times.

Aye before those they were doing tyranid badges and art cards in orders, had to get a couple of direct only bits for christmas presents. Like others have said it's a nice surprise but it's still not really enough of an incentive when discounters completely hammer their prices.

There's also that 'win a space marines height in boxes' they're doing at the minute.

I got a Spacewolf badge (pin for you colonial types) with the Stormclaw order last year, although it was just a plain round badge with the logo rather than that. Cool looking gift.

Wow a free pin badge?!?! Right, all is forgiven GW I'm buying 2000 points of space marines right now if it means a free promotional item as well!!

I know, I'm still going to buy most of my stuff at the FLGS, a) because I want to support a local business and they're a cool bunch of guys in there, b) because they offer 20% discount.

However this sort of stuff, plus the competition, does give me a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, GW have finally realised that in this business you have to have a relationship with your customers, because it's not all business.

And at the moment GW's relationship with us customers is in the "paranoid, delusional and abusive spouse" territory, which they need to fix, pronto.

It's been happening for some time, they are nice little items, I order my items to be picked up in store and they've come with stickers postcards keyrings badges boxes ands pins so fad each the something new, they are all very simple but I really think they are great little items.
The tempestus ripcord was a really cool one I like! So is the newest skaven pin. The Christmas box how ever silly is also really durable and well printed even on the inside.

Yeah, I would've more tempted to believe GW were making a change were this sort of thing (pins,etc.) not something they've been doing for a while.

I mean good on them for doing this, it's always been a nice gesture, I just don't think it's indicative of anything bigger.

Almost, they're working on it

I got the pin in my latest order. I only had a $20 order, so it looks like they're throwing them in small orders as well. It's a pretty nice little pin, actually. Probably going to put it on my work lanyard.

I got one of those. I think it's suppose to be one of the 9 books of Nagash. Flayed skin, skulls, and bones all over it. Nice little thing. I haven't even written in it because I don't want to ruin it.

FWIW I got three of the holiday cards in an order with the special box they were giving out.

Pre-Ordered Blood Angels codex and Datacards from GW, got it 10 days after release, with a Christmas Card

Ordered Necron codex and Datacards from The Warstore, day of release, got codex and Datacards 2 days after release and saved $10.

this sums it up rather contritely - made me laugh for what it's worth...

oh, and i got one of the skaven pins with an order of a techpreist and some bases, about £25 in all. it makes sense as a promo thing. had me asking around for a skaven player to give it to - so it got some people talking about fantasy which otherwise wouldn't.

you occasionally get that with forge world; when i bought my titan techpreist which was a short time before the HH series was announced, i got a black badge with an eye of horus in white on it and it just made me wonder why i didn't get anything when i bought the warhound a month or so earlier.

Then i get HH betrayal and see the titan techpreist depicted as Caleb Decima and it all made a lot more sense.

Don't think that was the reason - I got the same badge with a Hades Breaching Drill.

They have been adding freebies since 7ed started I got a remove before flight key fob with my limited ed 7ed and 2 SW pins one with Stormclaw and one with the limited ed Space Wolf dex.
