And hot damn, they are a ton of fun. They are pretty random and I can see how things can swing in your favor or not really quickly. But they are way different my usual army and provide a nice mix of randomness and shenanigans that makes it fun. Here's a simple list I ran with a buddy to try out at 800 points.

HQ
DP of Slaanesh, ML 1, Armor, Wings, Lesser/Greater Reward

Troops
Plaguebearers with Instrument, Character

Bloodletters with Instrument, Character

Pink Horrors with Instrument, Character

Elites
Beast of Nurgle x4

My opponent wanted to try out his SW and had this.

Formation
Champions of Fenris

HQ
Wolflord with some upgrades

Elites

WolfGuard with 2 Flamers and Drop Pod

WolfGuard with Termie, Combi-Flamer, 2 Flamers

Heavy Support
Land Raider Redeemer

Overall, the game was very back and forth. He rushed his LR at me and dropped his Wolfguard in. I kept everything in reserve but my DP and BoN. I used my BoN to tie him up while my DP flew around and killed the other squad. His Flamestorm cannons hurt a lot, but my PH came in along with my Bloodletters and Plaguebearers.

He assaulted and murdered my Pink Horrors, along with my Beasts, while I charged in with my Plaguebearers and Bloodletters. My Bloodletters died horribly, but my Plaguebearers glanced his LR to death. My DP then flew over and ripped through his squad and HQ single handedly. During the game I spawned in 13 PB and 7 Bloodletters.

Overall, I love Daemons. They're so different and fun that each game with the same list feels unique. The HQ random rewards seem kind of daunting. but I think their playstyle outweighs the risk. I do feel like I need a gak ton of extra troops in case of summoning, but other than that I really like this army.

Wolf Guard are never troops, they are always Elite. But.. He might have used the Champions of Fenris supplement as the detachment in that requiers 1 HQ and 2 Elite rather then 1 HQ and 2 Troops.

Yep. Sorry forgot to include that

One of our greatest strengths is our ability to essentially semi-tailor on the spot towards our opponent through those random Gifts.

One fun thing to try out with Pinkies btw;
18 w/full command + Blasted Standard + Aetherblade (or Staff of Change vs. non-MEQ's). Attach a Tzherald w/Greater Locus of Change + an Exalted Flamer

Take Prescience + a pair of Malefic powers on the Tzherald, and it's a really fun little unit to throw onto midfield objectives! The Locus will occasionally backfire sure, but there's honestly nothing like watching S5/S6 Horrors rip it up in combat, all the while the unit's Tzherald summons in added reinforcements tailored to the situation at hand!
The Exalt can provide some heavy-hitting firepower with his D3 shot Lascannon, while his template shot will auto-activate the unit's Blasted Standard vs. the first attempted assault against your Pinkies... people don't really expect Overwatch from Daemons, so it can be a really nasty shock to suddenly be eating D3/S5/ap3 + 2D6/S4 auto-hits.

Definitely not a hyper competitive unit, but it is a super fun unit that'll give plenty of laughs.

I love to give that unit's Tzherald a Greater Gift which gets defaulted to the Mutating Warpblade, simply because it's the closest ability we have to the previous codex's Gift of Mutation power which turns enemy characters into Chaos Spawn!
With Prescience up, the Tzherald is fully capable of killing most unit Sergeant type characters to get the Spawn-farm growing...
