Minis gamers, get ready to purge your closet! Sunday, March 29th is the date for the So Cal Games and Comics Miniatures Swap Meet!

Have some old minis you are never going to do anything with? Want some new ones you don’t have the cash for? Looking for bargains? Then this event is for you! Bring in your old stuff to sell or trade, swap meet style.

So Cal Games and Comics is located at 40466 Winchester Rd Temecula CA 92591. Seller table set-up will begin at 10am the morning of the event. At 10:30am we will encourage the sellers to take a half an hour and look over the other sellers’ stuff. At 11AM we will open the upstairs to the public for the frenzy to begin! The event will end promptly at 4PM, so get here on time!

We request that you only bring miniatures, miniatures rules, and completed terrain to your seller’s table…NO board games, terrain making supplies or RPGs. Items may only be traded, or purchased with So Cal Games and Comics credit. No cash may exchange hands during the Swap Meet.

Is there a hit list of what's hot and not anywhere?
Obviously we're not going to get retail for our stuff but what kind of exchange rate can we expect? What about NiB stuff that's still current (I have a Gorkanaut).
It's a bit of a drive for me and if the trade in isn't worth it I'm just going to stick to e-bay. So I'm trying to find out as much up front as possible.

Or.. is this me as a seller and joe bob as a seller decide to trade stuff? The use of the term So Cal Games and Comics credit makes it kinda hard to tell..

Yeah, I'm a bit curious too.

Do I just bring a pile of stuff with me to swap? Am I allowed to buy stuff on offer?

Do I need to sign up for a table to participate, or can I just show up?

I've got some Warmahordes stuff clogging up space around the house...

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

If it's like the Brookhurst Hobbies swap-and-shop, you basically set your own prices and you can make deals. Best to get there early. However, some great deals can be found when the last three people decide they don't want to lug all their stuff that didn't sell back to the car.

I've missed every Brookhurst swap and shop for one reason or another. Been trying to make it to one for quite some time now!

We *are* allowed to pay with cold hard cash, right?

Or are we only allowed to pay in metal, resin, and plastic?

It's been a while for me, but I remember using cash. But I think it had to be used to buy a gift card for the other party or something. The store got a cut somehow. Didn't stop people from trading or swapping cash in the parking lot, though, not that I am condoning that.

And speak of the devil:

I am super interested in this! I live pretty close, in Orange County, maybe a solid 1-hour drive away. That said, can anyone conjecture on the size of this thing? If it isn't all that big, then I'm not sure it's worth the drive, but if it has a decent turnout I'd love it.

I've been to the Brookhurst swap once or twice. "sold" a good bit of stuff for store credit, which was cool, but also sold straight up/bought straight up some things from other folks there. traded too.

Is the NO CASH CHANGING HANDS thing pretty strict? it's all the same to me, I'd prefer to actually trade, but i am just curious.

Sweet!

Temecula is over 3 hours of driving round trip. Brookhurst is less than an hour round trip.

True, but if there are a bunch of people in Temecula, I'd still make the trip. The amount of people at the last Brookhurst one wouldn't make it worth my while for the hour total time trip. But that's just me.

Well, if we don't end up getting clarification I won't be driving out to Temecula.
I've got Menoth, Skorne, GW High Elves, Orks, Spesh Muhreens, and all kinds of other stuff (a lot of it never assembled/painted) that has been clogging my gaming area for years. I've been on the verge of listing it on Ebay for a while and this would be a good chance to turn it around.

From their email newsletter.

The turn out seemed pretty small to me last time, too, but I was there hours after it opened.

Is that tied to the So Cal comics store in San Diego off of a side road of Clairemont Mesa?

On the trading.. we can do direct miniature for miniature exchange then? Your punctuation and the way that sentence was structured sounded like this is the case but enlisting and serving in the military has taught me to always double check if you're not 100% sure about the wording on something.

The store credit thing or whatever.. that sounds really confusing. Likewise, every time I've ever gotten store credit for anything, I got such a short end of the stick type of deal. Not specifically from there but it seems to be the blanket rule with this type of thing.. the house always wins so to speak.
If I'm able I'll come.. if nothing else I'll just drive back with my stuff.

You can trade Mini for mini. We always want to support of FLGS and that is why the store credit thing. So Cal Games and Comics is completely different from the store in Clairemont Mesa. Our store also has used mini's in stock. Though the stock does fluctuate.

"NO CASH SALES" is typical at pretty much every store-sponsored swap meet / bring & buy.

What's not clear is whether the seller receives cash or store credit at the end of the day.

In other words, if I bring and sell $100 worth of stuff,
A) do I get a crisp $100 bill in my hand, or
B) do I only get a store voucher for $100?

I can probably swing it since it's on a Sunday. Just need to let the wife know. Probably will drag Barzam along with me.

I'll probably bring some Warmahordes stuff, and some of the unbuilt GW boxes I've got laying around. I know I have a fair amount of nids that I don't think I'll ever get around to using/ building/ painting/ opening boxes of.

Are Bones alright to bring?

Does it matter if it's painted or unpainted?
What about prepainted stuff like Pathfinder and the older D&D stuff?

Dare I even say... Heroclix?

I've never done one of these things before. Always wanted to though.

They said something about no boardgame.. I'm not sure if they classify Clix as boardgame or not.. I am in the market for pre-painted Star Wars WotC though.. Vehicles, Storm Troopers, Rebel Troops, etc.. Trying to fill out a force for the old West End Games Star Wars tabletop.
It's over a month away so I can't promise I'll be able to make it. If I do, I'll want to bring a mountain of stuff.. how much space are we alloted? Do we have to rent the spaces/lots where our stuff is to be shown?

All miniatures are welcome even heroclix and pathfinder! We are having a one folding table maximum. There is no cost to get a table!

Now I'm tempted to go there if I can make it. Probably be super awkward too. Can't wait.

Is there a preference toward assembled or unassembled minis?

One table should be plenty to lay out my HUGE AMOUNT OF SUPER AWESOME RARE AND HARD TO ACQUIRE BITZ MUWAHAHAHAHAH

but!

Do we have to register in advance? To reserve ourselves a table? Would we do that through you (tomcox7) or the store?

I can probably fill the better part of my car's trunk (or "boot" as some call it) with models, boxes, bits, and fun stuff. Glad there will be tables though so I don't have to sell out of the back of my trunk. I'd like to think that I left my sketchy back alley trafficking days behind me (ah, college...)

I live about an hour and a half away, and stopped in last weekend to check the place out. It was pretty nice, and supr roomy (and clean!)

I even saw - brace yourself for it - girls there. Seemed a nice crowd. I'll be there for sure with my insane collection of bits and useful stuff. Hope to see a bunch of Dakkanauts there as well!

All of my stuff is in storage, so I won't be able to sell/swap anything, but I'd be interested in getting some stuff from my fellow Dakka-ites. Out of curiosity, C6, does the shop carry Infinity?
