New Jersey...The other end of the warp.

So I recently picked up a lot of Sisters of Battle stuff from a guy on craigslist. He used to play way back when and had an amazing army in perfect condition. Upon going through my find, I noticed he had an old box of Seraphims that were sealed. Since I am both relatively new to 40K and SOB, I decided to ask before I tore it open and built the models: Is this better off kept sealed/sold off, or opened and painted?

Unless you are getting ten grand or even one grand for them why sell them? If you are a Sisters player you should enjoy this.

I say open it and paint them. Make them proud. You sell them even for a hundred bucks or so and you will kick yourself in the arse over it a few years down the road.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I meant it as: Is this Rare/sought after? Is it worth selling this particular box and just getting a new box of seraphims + extra stuff with the $ gained?

I totally want the 5 extra jump units to go with the rest of the lot (which makes excellent allies for my SW army), but if it is super expensive, i'm sure i could use it to fund the rest of the army...

No they will not be worth anything more. People put vintage 40k up all the time and the only ones that seem to sell are the gross cheap 2nd hand ones. Being metal they are easily stripped and fixed.

Just use em dude, you arent devaluing them that much.

Agreed... ebay is full of OOP and RARE and COLLECTIBLE listings for old models... but the ones that sell, are typically below or at retail of the more recent models.

Despite GW thinking they make "collectibles" now, rarely anything they make ever goes up in value.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

A new day, a new time zone.

Considering those are the exact same Seraphim models currently being sold, just in an old box, no, they're not worth anything in particular beyond what 5 Seraphim are going for these days.

Oh dang, I saw RARE and OOP and I got excited, but then I didn't see NIB so I got sad...

Not that I follow Sisters that closely, but aren't Seraphim the, well, Seraphim of the codex? As in, the one unit that no one takes because they're as bad as Seraphim?

It's much harder to use them if you leave them in the sealed box.
