Just getting into Hordes, and I'm trying to figure out something really basic. In the template set, the little key used to measure melee range seems designed to fit into the spray template at a perpendicular angle. What exactly is the purpose of that? I can't figure out what you're using it to measure.

Also, what's the best way to ensure that you markings on a model's base are exactly 180 degrees? I'm trying to avoid busting out a protractor, but it seems required at this point unless there's a good trick to figuring out where the dead center of a base is.

That way,then left

About the spray, I guess it would be to help you hold it above models so it's easier to place it properly
For the bases I drew a line with marks 30mm/40mm/50mm away and place the bases there. If you barely can see them both, you're probably pretty close.
To be fair I had a drawing compass around so I just drew circles a tiny bit larger than the bases I'm trying to mark to be more precise
There might be some printable helps around the internet for that

Just found this, might help you

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

The reach key fits into the spray template to allow you to hold the spray elevated over models but also still be able to ensure its right on the edge of the base still.

As for marking 180 degrees, I've got a handy little PDF here that has the arcs for every base size. 120mm bases actually have their arcs predefined.

Thanks guys. Just one more question: with the current token sets, is there any difference between the Legion and Trollbloods ones besides color?

Yes, each set of tokens is different depending on the faction. There some specific tokens for the certain models in the faction, like the trollbloods one has a token for the kriel stone aura, I am 99% positive has more tokens for knock down then the legion one.

So I would get the token set for your faction.

The biggest use of the notche's in the spray templates seem to be to make the ends snap off and make you keep buying new spray templates. I'd look into other companies for sprays, plus you can then get ones specifically for 6, 8 and 10" ranges so you're not over measuring when you only need a 6" spray.

I'll also plug the Muse On Minis token sets. They're much more expensive than the PP ones, but are really nice.

It turns out they don't break as much if you don't wave them around as much. It's a mistake most people make exactly once.

They don't break from waving around, they break from being on the narrow tip of nearly a foot of hard brittle plastic that's a pain in the butt to store where it will never be threatened with any stressing or bumping.

The ones Ive got right now are Broken Egg templates, but I strongly DISCOURAGE you from buying from them online as they are really bad about getting product shipped out with out a lot of delays and follow up pestering of them. They make good stuff, but you should only buy from them at cons what they have on hand and can give you on the spot.
