Hi Guys

Welcome to my new blog! It's good to be back after a bit of a brief hiatus. Though I dived into this hobby, with the wonderful miniatures of Infinity, I have since discovered there's a wide world of wonderful minis out there. So after some thought I've decided to retire my old blog, to save some confusion. This new blog will contain all my hobby stuff including mainly infinity but a bunch of other stuff too
So with that said. Here we go!

Great to have you back, ckig! Don't ever stop, minis are wonderful. Dreamforge has got some cool stuff, too. And they are pretty affordable. The ogre looks awesome so far. Keep it coming.

Cool, new thread for you to fill with awesomeness! It's always good to see people branching out into other games/mini lines!

The skin tones on that guy are looking great!

Out of interest, what Malifaux stuff did you end up getting?

Welcome back dude.

I Love the dark age minis (shame the normal humans are too tall to fit in with my collection blah blah blah) I'm def going to have to pick up some of the archangels at some point.

And echoing para the skin tones on that dude are looking great.

Thanks for the recommendation! Might have to take a look at them

I agree it's always good to see something different.

For my Malifaux, I ended up going with the Perdita Posse, I think each of them have a lot of character and they look like a joy to paint. And of course to oppose them I also picked up some Neverborn stuff, starting with the Dreamer, the little guys in there are too cute hah.

Yea, all the new stuff they've been putting out for Dark Age has been awesome. On the models themselves, they're nice enough, easy fits, plenty of detail. Some details like the belts, straps are a bit soft but overall pretty good

bebopdrums2424 wrote:Yup!! Nice work! That model looks like a lot of fun to paint!

Cheers. With this model I got to practice my skin tones a lot which is great since I haven't had much practice and is definitely something I could improve.

So here's a bit of progress on the model

Almost done! And here's the rest of them ready to go.

Nice work as ever, the first mini has gone from good to amazing with the skin finished and more colouts blocked in! Can't wait to see it finished.

Didn't use any purple there so it was probably a fluke haha xD but thanks! For the skin I used Cork Brown, Sunny Skintone, Basic Skintone and Skin wash mix.

Thanks! Was not really sure what colour scheme to go for so he is kind of an experimental piece but I like him so far.

And here he is just about done! Just gotta finish up the base now

Oh yeah, also have the new Outcasts book. Not necessary as all the Dark Age rules are free, which is really nice, but since this is the first of their new 'codex' style books I thought it'd be a nice time to start collecting.

It's missing a few pages unfortunately, some printing error for the first run. That's what you get for pre-ordering I guess :/

Inside is still nice though, fluff is alright, I like the artwork for the new nomads faction, and it's got a nice gallery at the back for pretty pictures

Guess that's it for now.

Thanks!

Ok so here's the finished Brute finished and based!

Nothing fancy but he does look much more complete now

Oh and also put together my first Malifaux stuff! Here's the Dreamer's crew

Some pics of the sprues

So many pieces!

Lord Chompy's bits

So.. my first impression of the box hmm. Well, the details are nice enough, not as strong as metal of course but good enough and it suits the cartoony style of Wyrd. Everything comes in so many pieces though, a real hassle to assemble especially since everything is so small and spindly. Even for the small guys, some of them come in 8 pieces! The assembly wouldn't bother me so much but there were also a few rather large gaps :/ not something I expected in plastic. Bit disappointed to be honest, the stuff isn't that bad I guess but I expected more, especially for the price. Chompy is pretty BA though

But what to paint next? Well here's my work desk at the moment. Probably need to get my LotR pledge done (ha), so there's Saruman and his pet Grima, with Gandalf and his pet Frodo. Also More Dark Age stuff coming, the Malifaux stuff, and getting back to Infinity as well there.

Mostly all grey at the moment, but I'll get through it.

Looks like you'll be busy!

The Malifaux stuff is fiddly for sure, but in general will look so much better when you get some paint on it. Personally, I'd put it up there with Infinity on the fun-to-paint scale, but YMMV. Have to say I didn't realise quite how massive the new Lord Chompy is, though!

What kind of style are you going with for LotR, do you think? Bright like the Infinity/Dark Age stuff, or something more muted?

Nice sunglasses! And models. Your painting area is so spotless, I'm jealous. Mine looks like I've been painting with toothbrushes.

Yeah the Malifaux stuff looks fun to paint, but ugh the assembly

With the LotR...well I think no matter how I try to paint it, it always ends up quite bright haha. Might do a few test runs and see.

lol thanks. And thanks for noticing the glasses haha. The painting area is still fresh, let's see how well I can keep it

So I'm feeling pretty lazy and wondering whether or not I should just put everything in one blog instead of upkeeping two. What do you guys think?

Been getting back to painting infinity now since this arrived in the post today

Starting my Yu Jing. Here's a test of some colours for Sun Tze. Not sure if I want to keep it. It's a bit more greeny fluoro than the pic. I like it but I don't like it :/

Any comments would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

He's looking good! My gut instinct if you decide you don't like the neon green armour would be to hit it with a dark green wash/glaze. That way, you keep the nice transitions and lines, but just add a little more depth.

RE: two blogs, I've never had trouble keeping my completely random hobbying going in just the one thread; so long as the title stays up-to-date, I figure the people that want to see your stuff will see it. There's also the the "Show off your Infinity/Malifaux/LotR" threads in the relevant sub-forums if youneed feedback from a more specific audience, so my vote goes to combining the two.

Yeah time to put it all together I think. Good point about the subforums

Bit of progress on Sun Tze. Coloured the rest of the green and some quick shading as suggested. Now just needs some highlights.

C&C always welcome!

Thanks for looking.

Thanks guys ^^

@ Desubot: I think the book is being reprinted? I don't think it's that limited anymore so you should be able to get one if you want . I think the book is great. It's got a few basic tips and goes over some of the techniques he uses briefly but its mainly a compilation of his work with tons of pics. It's light reading but it looks great and I'm a very visual person so I think it's worth it. And it comes with the cool Joan miniature.

Here's an update of Sun Tze

Wondering what colour to do his cloak. I'm thinking purple with yellow/gold trim.

Oh and here's an extra wizard:

He was part of my March LotR pledge (a little late ). Painted fairly quickly (by my standards lol), though it's a simple enough miniature.

Hope you guys enjoy.

Thanks for looking!

Aye, Saruman looks great! That mini is one that can end up a little flat/monochrome, but yours has a nice depth to it. The face is awesome too!

I appreciate the kind words everyone! It definitely helps

And so I've managed to finish up Sun Tze. Here he is. Hope you like him.

The face is still a tricky thing for me.

Wanted him to look very regal so decided to go with a purple and gold cloak

First time trying to paint NMM gold. I think it turned out..okay.. it's messy in the pics but it looks okay from afar . It was a bit hard painting along those tiny lines.

And another angle

I need to paint his rock and base.

That's him for now. Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think

Really nice complementary colors, rich and they go so well together. The blending/shading is fantastic and the face has come out really well.
