Hi everyone! Im super excited for this codex.

my only problem is that ive never had any chaos before. I want an army that isnt too expensive dollar wise at first but one that I can start playing with soon.

I saw the box sets that are out and was wondering if they are worth buy. The Chaos Space Marine attack force looked interesting.

I was thinking about 20 cultists and breaking them up into small squad to die fast.

was also going to buy a unit of CSM and one of Blood letters and then a unit of possessed and termies. Just wondering what I should do to get the most bang for my buck and not buy units that I dont really need.

ANY ADVICE IS SUPER HELPFUL

What HQ do you think you'll run?

I hear Bloodthirster with 3 Daemon prince is pretty nasty.

Maybe bloodthirster and x2 Prince = 600ish
Cultist mob x1 or 2= 100- 200ish

I'm very new to this game (not to wargaming) and might be just theorizing but I think a list has 3 main criteria

1)hold/take objectives
2)dish out damage
3)take or avoid damage

So with bloodthirster and 2 princes you can take and dish out damage, and the cultists will hold the objectives, or other unglamoris work.

With the extra 4-500 points I'd make "counter units" and support units for all commers. Something for anti-armor, anti-horde, some kind of long range gun.

Im hoping to either run the termie lord or bloodletter on juggernaut maybe?

I know I dont want some spam list or something cheese.

Get the minimum units to run a slaughter cult. A mounted Herald is probably the best hq. Then get a maulerfiend or 3. Then get 2 units of bikes and Lots of hounds. Pick up a bloodthirster or 3 as well...

The Slaughter Cult is a great starting place. I would never get a Daemon Prince as a Blood Thirster is just better for similar points (insensate rage Blood Thirster is the one to buy in your army list). That said you'll want a spare Bloodthirster and DP for summoning, blood tide of Khorne is a great starter set for all your summoning needs add a BT to that and use the blood throne from it as your HQ so he can give out hatred. Trying to keep financial costs down 2 berzerker squads with an axe of khorne each in a Rhino and Possessed in a Rhino fill out mandatory for Slaughter Cult. Flavour with some cultists a couple of maulerfiends (or a Gore Pack with bikers tricked out with melta) for AT and you should be there, fill spare points with cultists and/or spawn.
