The Khorne demonkin blood tithe?

I mean, GW seemed to be doing a lot to simplify any points based systems to general army wide tables. Acts of faith were taken from Witchhunters and the dark eldar had pain tokens for individual units removed. Right now, Sisters of Battle have this weird system where each unit has a tailor made ability it can use once per game like a combi weapon; which is kind of unfluffy and weird. You shouldn't just turn miracles on and off like a tap. It should be random and be affected by whats going on. IMO they should get progressively more dangerous and fanatical as more of them die as martyrs until you literally have one sister left blazing like an avatar of the god emprah. Witch hunters kind of represented that with you getting more points per faithful unit destroyed. But atm they don't really have that and feel very bad.

I do think they wouldn't stick with the rules as they stand. Too much micro management and stuff to remember about whether each unit has spent its ability. Plus looking at other armies they prefer to deal with things armywide. I'd definitely prefer this, whether they went the dark eldar route or the blood tithe root.

Obviously the blood tithe giving you points for losing units to spend on abilities is very close to the old faith points system so it makes me wonder if GW would consider something like this.

How would you to a faith system for sisters?

I do like the flexibility and ability to pre plan wit the present system - but thats thinking game wise.

Be nice to have somehting more in keeping - but remaing simple and NOT random.

A Power from Pain type mechanic might well work

They're not psychic abilities as SoB aren't psykers. Its like saying having the mark of nurgle or a daemons invulnerable save or even the existence of a daemon is a psychic power. Yes, technically the God Emperor is giving them miraculous abilities because of their faith and you could argue that it is a psychic power. But really its religious and like the other religious abilities or powers that come from gods shouldn't be conjured or dispelled.

If you mean just mechanics. I guess. Have a table of abilities that you randomly roll for for reach unit. However that would be very complicated.

Power from Pain type table would be cool and a lot simpler. But I don't think it would be that fluffy. Its meant to be all about martyrdom and miraculous intervention. Hypothetically the sisters could be really winning and getting progressively better. With dark eldar its just meant to be them feeding off the general slaughter, friend and foe.

wouldn't be too hard to do something like that at all.

Here's some proposed rules (which are woefully incomplete as it's just my developing something on the fly)

as SOB units have the special ability "strength of faith" any unit with Strength of Faith generates 1 Faith point per turn during the Psykic phase. these faith points can be spent to "cast" acts of faith (perhaps during the Psykic phase, mostly just to stream line things_ in addition, during the Psykic phase, these Faith points can be added to your warp dice pool only, AND ONLY for the purpose of "deny the witch"

Each squad will have a set power it can cast, with HQs such as cannonnesses being able to roll on a table instead.

giving most squads set powers would limit pregame confusion and it seems to work well for Grey Knights

But every grey knight is a psyker. Their powers derive from this, not from the God Emperor, in exactly the same way as khorne grants gifts or boons to his followers. Its not a blessing like an eldar farseer.

Lots of armies have special abilities that stem from them being fanatical or as a gift from their gods which can't be removed or are needed to be cast.

IMO if they started making it like psyhic powers and in the psychic phase then they would be the only army to be actively penalized for this; especially since they have no psykers with mastery levels which limits their ability to cast especially if your opponent is using psykers. That may not be what you're saying here, but I think if GW went down that road they would just make them psychic powers. Which is silly, unless your name is Magnus you are not dispelling anything the god emperor does.

You could even argue that the power through pain is a "psychic ability" because it represents them nourishing their souls as slannesh consumes them; which sounds very warp based to me.

I just don't like the one off ability which kind of meh for most units. Especially since you can cheaply get much better bonuses and buffs by getting a priest and they can last all game. Why does a guy encouraging women much more fanatical than he is make them fight better than a miracle caused by the god emperor? I just think its a silly and badly thought thing.

true but keep in mind I'm not nesscarily saying they should operate JUST like psykic powers, right down to being dispellable. but rather that they should work alongside the psykic phase for ease of use. also that the general way GKs are laid out psykicly (every squad with a set power, and roll only for ICs) is proably the way to handle em, assuming GW is going to go with the randomized element when they update em

They were basically exactly like Psychic Powers in 6th Edition - Leadership Test to activate ability. It's just that you only had 1 use of them, but there were no 'Perils'.

More faith generating units (HQs and such) the better invuln save in an aura around the HQs. It encourages interesting HQ units instead of just bolter sisters. EX. 2 HQs Around a sister squad that squad now has a 4+ invuln.

Martyrdom is one thing, but mainly the Emperor blesses the victorious.

I don't want to see points of any kind. I think

A: a faithful unit that destroys an enemy becomes 4++ rerollable

B: any time a friendly unit is destroyed, one faithful unit within LoS gains rending for all shooting and close combat.

It would seem that making the Adepta sororitas more Grey Knight like would just be easiest. But replace warp charges with faith points. Then from there make a "faith" power table along with its own "perils" table.

So in effect make AoF more like a psychic phase in how its organized. that should take care of any fluff problems there.
