Didn't know where to post this, so pleasde move if it isn't appropiate.

When zooming in on a mini, roll your mouse wheel down (towards yourself) and the magnification becomes quite large. Pretty sweet!

I always hated that function and thought it to be rather useless because of how small the scope was.

You have given the images actual purpose for me again. Very nice tip, thank you, friend.

My mind was blown. Trying this out, loving it, then right-clicked (firefox) and clicked 'view background image' and got the bigger image in its entirety.

So happy with that.

Isn't it that the circle becomes bigger so you can see more, but the magnification remains the same? The gw website makes me sad and giggly.

I've known about this for some time, I though it was common knowledge.

You know you can also pivot the 360 view so you can look down on a mini?

I only figured this out with the Mechanicus release.

I knew about the zoom feature but didn't know about the top down view. That is a nifty feature.

...Well now I feel stupid...
I considered the magnification tool to be useless as it was too small and couldn't see the whole area.
And it never even crossed my mind to try the 360 image as a view from above.

If there are webpages that won't let you save images you can also get around that in Firefox by right-clicking on the page and choosing "View page info", click the "media" button in the upper left and then you can scroll down the list of images.

Pick the one you want then use the "save as" button above the image preview.

Well that was rude and pointless.
So you tried a random little trick and insult everyone who didn't? Compensating for much?

Now I know how elderly using computers feel.

The magnification is a neat thing, although ultimately it's more useful to open it in entirety in a new tab.

But the fact you can tilt the model to see it from the top in 360 blows my mind. But I'm not sure you could always do it? I know the 360 view changed a while ago (the loading process looks differently), so perhaps it was only added then?

The top down 360 this is new and it doesn't work on the older stuff, just the new releases.

As for the zoom thing, the best way is to view it in Firefox, click the image to bring up the zoom box, then right click and "view background image", it actually shows you the higher res version that is being used for the zoom box.

Why in the fething hell they are too bat gak insane to not just show you the high res version to begin with I'll never know. If I ever meet the person who thought that up I'll beat them over the head with a keyboard. Then proceed to beat all the people who approved the moronic idea.

Give them a break, man. They were on a pretty tight budget making the website after all

Bandwidth. No need to load a huge image if you don't need to.

Comments like this really don't contribute anything, so let's at least try and do better.

Thank you.

Well they're hardly "huge" images to begin with, the small ones are 45KB and the big ones are 90KB. The point of the smaller (2KB) thumbnails does the job of saving bandwidth more than having an intermediate resolution. It also doesn't help bandwidth if everyone who views it views the smaller one AND the bigger one

But even if it is an issue of bandwifth, it doesn't explain why when you click on the image it doesn't just show you the larger image instead of the silly little zoom box. Surely once you've clicked on the image to bring up the zoom, it's had to download the larger version anyway.

That is really cool!

I found out about the magnification by accident, love my Magic Mouse!

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.
