Hi guys

i'm in the process of building my first Space Marine army. I've started painting them up as Crimson Fists as I like the colour scheme and i've not intentionally built this list thinking about IF Chapter Tactics.
Be grateful for any thoughts on how this list might do, or how it might be improved.

Thanks

DA

Wow, thats a lot of assault cannons and alot of razorbacks.

I haven't played marines in a long time, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Do Crimson Fist's have there own chapter tactics or do they use the Imperial Fist chapter tactics, I'll just assume the latter.

I think that drop pods would be better than the RB if it was the IF CT.

otherwise looks good.

Have you considered TC's? I think they are great for their cost and would help with Anti-horde

Fun list, just gonna say you don't have very much turn 1 firepower that has more than 24" range. Love Crimson Fists and for a first list its actually pretty solid. Have fun

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Sorry to be a bit bore here, but you can't take drop pod for centurions. You can't take it as dedicated straight for them neither you can loan other squad drop pod to them or buy fast attack slot drop pod. So in other words those centurions need other kind of delivery system to take them up to the field!

My understanding is that Crimson Fists use the Imperial Fists Chapter Tactics - Bolter Drill and Siege Masters Special Rules.
Hence why my Scouts are equipped with bolter variants rather than sniper rifles and why I was keen to include Devastators and Centurion Devastators
Can I ask why you think drop pods rather than Razorbacks? My thought was that it gives me twice as many (tactical and razorback) objective secured troop choices for Maelstrom games - maybe there is something i'm missing. That being said, they arent cheap.
Assuming you mean Thunderfire Cannons for TC, no I hadn't, but only because I had totally neglected them and not out of dislike

Thanks for the feedback. Depending on enemy composition I was hoping to drop 2 pods in turn one and a third in the second turn, all somewhere in the midfield (ideally in cover), whilst razorbacks - but this plan may have been blown out of the water by the following comment.

Bugger! Significant oversight on my part. Im reluctant to plow lots of points into them in the form of a landraider. Is it worth re-equiping them or just replacing them with something else? Any thoughts?

What about giving the Centurions lascannons??

The list seems good, and honestly fits your Chapter Tactics pretty well. I like the Scout unit, and the Tacticals aren't bad. I'd drop the vet upgrades though, no point to them (you don't get an extra melta bomb attack) and use the points elsewhere.

The drop pod dread is fun, and maybe give him two hunter killer missiles so he has some additional firepower the turn he arrives? Sure they are expensive, but you've already got a lot invested in him, and now in 7th dreads can fire ALL of their weapons on the drop, so perhaps that's worth a try?

The lascannon devs are nice, a cheap and effective unit. They can take a pretty hard fall from stuff that ignores cover, so I like the lascannon/missile dev Centurions with tank hunter personally (they're just much more resilient). You could almost take two squads of regular devs though for the price, so it's really up to your personal preference.

Definitely can't take a pod for the Grav Cents.

Other than that, it's a pretty nice list! I'd watch out for fliers though if you do plan to face them... perhaps pick up a Fire Raptor or Storm Raven, or pair of Stormtalons?

Hmmm... ok, so without the Centurion devastators as I dont want them footslogging to get them into my game plan, i've gone for the following list with a single drop pod, keeping numbers odd

Level 2 Librarian
Command squad, 4 plasmaguns, apothecary in razorback with TL Lascannons

Level 2 Librarian

5 scouts with bolters, heavy bolter in landspeeder storm

5 tacticals, meltabombs for sgt, meltagun in razorback with assault cannon
5 tacticals, meltabombs for sgt, meltagun in razorback with assault cannon
5 tacticals, meltabombs for sgt, meltagun in razorback with assault cannon

Ironclad dreadnought with 2 heavy flamers, assault launchers in drop pod

Stormtalon with lascannons
Stormtalon with lascannons

5 Devastators, 4 Lascannons
5 Devastators, 4 Missile Launchers
Thunderfire cannon

1848 (i think...?)

Any further thoughts guys and gals?

I toyed with scraping together a couple more points, dropping the second librarian and getting an Aegis Defence Line with Icarus. Could swap out missile launchers for Heavy Bolters? Or swap them out for thunder fire cannon? With IF tactics is the TFC still much better - never played with either??

I would change the command squad's transport to a rhino so they can fire out of the hatches. I'd drop the second libby as well (he doesn't really have anywhere effective to go). Use those points to pick up a TFC.

Can I have a second thunderfire cannon as well as two devastator squads?? I thought I could only take 3 heavy support choices. If I drop libby and razorback --> rhino I can get fairly close to getting a support dreadnought to sit in the backfield

Oops I didn't see you already had one. Nevermind ha. I would then spend the points on something fun that you want to play... you could upgrade one of the Stormtalons to a Fire Raptor or Stormraven if you feel like you need more AA; you could upgrade that second dev squad to lascannons; or maybe you could even take a small melta bike squad (fast attack) to help with some fast vehicle hunting. Some Legion of the Damned could be nice too (I'd say go plasma, plasma cannon, combi-grav) for some help against MCs in cover!

Again, it looks well rounded overall though.
