Subject: Could the Fallout games be a precurser to 40k

My brain is weird so no one hate me for this,
I had a strange thought does anyone think that the Fallout games might be a precursor to the Warhammer 40k universe
Like I said my brain is a weird place but it kinda makes sense. They do both have that constant war theme going for them.
The FEV that created the supermutants could be the first steps in the gene mods used to create the astartes, as well as experiments in incorporating the strengths of the Ork genome into the human race.
The brotherhood of steel and the enclave both have primitive power armor as well as las and plasma weapons. they also have primitive chainswords and thunder hammers in the form of Rippers and Super sledges.
The brotherhood of steel's dedication to recovering technology and already some what religious organization could be the creation of the adeptus mechanicus, hell with the reveal of liberty prime in fallout 3 means we may have seen the first of the man made Titans. Also in 2 its at a brotherhood base that you first come across cybernetic augmentations. The brother hood is dedicated to technology and strictly to technology so its not that unusual to thenk of them finding some why to take there gathered knowlage off planet. Hell perhaps the elders are already attempting to terra form mars with one or more gecks
The enclave, caesar's legion, and the ncr could be the precursors to the scattered warlords of old terra. with the enclaves powered armor I could see that proliferating across the wasteland.
The large amounts of functional and powerfull mutations may show that in the time leading up to the war the nuclear weapons may have been tainted with some sort of warp technology. simple radiation could not account for the ghouls, rad scorpions, fire breathing geckos or psychic turtles. and we also know there are aliens in the fallout world since you can find crashed ships, and several different breeds of hostile Xenos.
I know its a stretch but as you explore the capital wastland or crawl out of vault 13 looking for a water chip think about weather or not the immortal emperor of mankind might not be in a vault some where near by

Fallout takes place in early M3. The DoA has not happened yet and will not for several more millennia.

Short Answer- No.
Long Answer- No, because transistors. The Transistor was never invented in the Fallout universe. From reading 40K books, we know computers use transistors instead of vacuum tubes.

I think on an extreme level,it seems plausible even , right. Time is a funny thing and with as much that was lost changed or never recorded it could fit. Who wrote the books? It is a stretch and I like it. Keep up the imagination.

Up until that point they haven't the development of transistor technology might have come about during the period of rebuilding after the great war. the lack of fossil fuels would seem to push towards more energy efficient technology in the push towards the rest of the solar system.

I think 40k coming from the Fallout universe is no more likely than 40k coming from the Star Trek universe (or for that matter any other similar universe). Humanity goes through 30,000 years before the rise of the Emperor, with numerous bright and dark ages before this point.

Basically anything that happens before roughly 15,000 AD could be a precursor to 40K, but such a statement is essentially meaningless, because such events are so far in the past (of M40) that they lose all meaning and significance.
In the 38,000 years that pass between now and the setting of 40K, the Earth could nuke itself several times over, rebuild and repopulate... just to do it again... without having any real effect on the 40K setting.

My own personal headcanon is that Mortal Engines was the prequel to 40k. Traction cities in the ancient days on Terra were mentioned in Horus Rising.

Actually in Fallout 3, I did a play through playing my character as if he were a devastator space marine. Power armor, power first, missile launcher, intense hatred of all mutants. It all synced up a pretty well with a bit of imagination. That being said, I did get kicked out of Megaton pretty quickly.

Shouldn't this go in background forums?
A lot of the sci fi genre is compatible if the stories are seperated by enough distance and time.
Fallout - around nowish, - Post apocalyptic wasteland after the war. Includes mutagens which could be connected to the warp
Firefly - after the reconstruction, before warp - Mass exodus from Earth That Was (Ancient Terra in 40K speak), Includes psykers. Possible chaos influence in what made the reavers go insane as the Blue Sun organisation was also in charge of dealing with psykers.
Star Trek - After the discovery of warp - Their FTL drive is called a "warp" drive and sends them into "subspace", an area where the known laws of physics do not apply. Man spread across the galaxy. Artificial intelligences begin to appear in the form of androids such as Data and sentient programs such as the Doctor.
Warhammer 40K - Takes place so far after everything else - rad beasts, reavers, psychics, Earth That Was, AI, subspace, and warp drives
Heck, I declare these are the same universe! Headcanon has spoken.

Fairly certain that fallout was basically an alternate timeline of earth
Fallout Wiki -
The Fallout world is an anachronistic setting historically divergent from our own and fundamentally different from our universe in how the laws of science work. The base concept for the setting is a mid 20th century World of Tomorrow, a future as envisioned through the lens of the Atomic and Jet Ages. The Fallout world is a satirical, post-apocalyptic depiction of the future envisioned by Americans between the late 1940s and early 1960s.

Fallout has borrowed a lot of influence from 40k over the years and ironically 40k has actually been influenced right back, look at the new skitarii weapons, almost identical to fallout plasma weapons, also the solar auxilia are very reminiscent of brotherhood of steel, it all gels quite nicely.

I love the idea of Data being the precursor to Men of Iron that try to wipe out mankind.
Or with Firefly. Is River the Emperor?

I thought it was a robot named B.B. Rodriguez that leads the robot rebellion to destroy humanity in the 3010's.

The Fallout Universe split off of our Universe in 1945. But 40k has actual records of stuff happening that happened in our Universe after that (Berlin Wall falling is disscuss in a BL short story) so its highly unlikely. And NASA is also mentioned in the fluff. Our current civilization ended in the 40k universe long after it did in the Fallout one, and because of no more rescourses, not Nukes.
