because why shouldn't GW sell us all the same damn book every 2 years...

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/647061.page

Fortunately my friend, the Invisible Monkey Bobo has the inside scoop on what's coming!

1. Codex Space Marine will see some of the significant updates and revisions in years wtih almost 5% new art and several fluff sections slightly rephrased!
2. Razorbacks will now have the option of taking laz/plaz and heavy flamers. Unless they already have those options. In which case they'll be taken away.
3. The return of Chapter Tactics and Traits! Unless of course they were in the last codex. In which case they'll be taken away.
4. Extensive playtesting against Other Space Marines, grey Space Marines and even Red Space Marines to ensure balance!
5. Strength D Apoc Barrage if you have I dunno, 5 Whirlwinds or something. Vindicators maybe. Whatever's not selling these days.
6. All Space Marine squads now have a minimum size of 11, thus boosting GW's sales 10% overnight.
7. Assault Marines now have the special rules Mallet of Ire and Cudgel of Fury. Because why the @#$% not.
8. Deathwatch and Legion of the Damned are back in. Unless they were in the last codex. In which case they're out.
9. The price of a Rhino with Extra Armor will go up by 5 points. This will finally create perfect balance throughout the game.
10. Scout Shotguns will now ignore cover. Because of reasons.
11. Due to an unfortunate typo las cannons are now S2, AP9.
12. 5 Centurions can now combine to form an Imperial Knight.
13. For unknown reasons SoB were left of the allies matrix but Adeptus Arbites were added in.
14. In a dramatic rules shift, Space Marine Sergents may now purchase hair, and even helmets from the wargear list!
15. 8% more skulls.
16. 300 pages, 50 of which are just Kirby laughing at you while bathing - Scrooge McDuck style - in a vat of money.
17. Cover features a brave warrior in full armor, waving some sort of impractically large weapon and screaming. There may be pointing as well.
18. Nagash now available as a troop choice, because we have to move those $100 character models somehow y'know?
19. A new dreadnaught variant. No not a Contemptor. Stop asking. Because we hate you, that's why. OK? It's another @#$%ing angry washing machine but this time it has, I dunno, TL Heavy Bolters or something. Why are you even asking, you're going to buy 3 of them anyway.
20. After getting a lot of flak for the impractical design of the Storm Raven and Storm Talon GW will put out a third marine flier.
Spoiler:

Hearing the complaints of thier beloved customers GW finally makes changes to terminators. Tac terminators will receive extra heavy weapons slots and choices. Assault terminators get another usr each.

Inexplicably they lose the ability to use all transports forcing them to walk across the board or teleport.

23. Space Marine Captains and Chaptermasters on bikes allow biker squads to be taken as Troops.

24. Space Marine Librarians and Tigurius can cast psychic powers from within Space Marine transport vehicles including flyers. The new rule now every transport has - without any point increase - is called Moonroof.

25. Every Space Marine vehicle excluding flyers has the 'Bow down before the Emperor' special rule. At the beginning of a close combat phase it can declare a charge - after overwatch determine the charge range with 3D6. It now deals Hammer of Wrath-attacks to each enemy model in base contact with the Space Marine vehicle. The vehicle is allowed to consolidate 3" at every initiative step between 10 and 1. The vehicle must not move out of CC. Each additional model reached by this will suffer a Hammer of Wrath-attack. Space marine vehicles have Strength X. Strength is determined by the armor of the side hitting the enemy model up to S10. Enemy models do not hit the rear armor but the one they are facing. After initiative step 1 the vehicle automaticly makes a Hit&Run move with 3D6.

26. Smoke launchers mounted on Space Marine vehicles confer a 2+ re-rollable invulnerable save. The vehicle can still shoot in the shooting phase, with one less weapon, and charge in the close combat phase. When using a smoke launcher roll for dangerous terrain immediately. It is one use only. A Space Marine vehicle can be equipped with an unlimited amount of smoke launchers (for 5 points a launcher) but can only use one each shooting phase.

Rhinos are now AV 14 13 10 to reflect the fluff better.

Marines are now WS: 5 BS: 5 S: 5 T: 5 A: 3 I: 5 LD: 10 2+/3++ to reflect the fluff better.

The Raven Guard chapter tactics will allow Assault Squads and Vanguard Veterans to assault out of terrain they appear in 'Ymgarl style'.

White Scars Chapter Tactics will get a +1 to Jink Saves and will not have to snapfire if they jink on bikes.

Ultramarines can use their Chapter tactic traits as many times as they like in a game.

Salamanders now get +1 S and -1 AP to all Flamer weapons, and their Meltaguns get to be Armorbane instead of Melta. However, their tactical squads can still not take Heavy Flamers.

Forces using Imperial Fists chapter tactics are fine and balanced, and thus clearly don't need anything.

The new Vehicle Squadrons will gain defensive bonuses with more vehicles. And by 'Defensive Bonuses' we mean the Command Vehicle in the squadron will be allowed to make a look out, sir! roll.

Centurions will get a price drop, both in points and dollar value.

Sternguard Veterans will get +1 BS, VVs and Assault Terminators will get +1 WS. Tactical Terminators will get no buffs, because Stormbolters at BS5 or two heavy weapons per would be over powered.

Tactical Marines, if taken part of the Formation(s), will gain Combat Blades, and the ability to take two specials or two heavies. However, it will still be one per five.

If the detachment is the new Formations, Boltguns will gain Shred.

New Space Marine only Psychic Powers, called the 'Librarius'. These powers include the old Null Zone, a Space Marine-ified Invisibility, and, of course, Storm of the Emperor's Wrath.

Chaplains have gone to a Space Marine workshop, and rather than making themselves and their brothers Fearless, they automatically pass Morale and Pinning checks. Essentially, Chaplains learned the value of ducking.

Marneus Calgar's powerfists now swing at initiative, with Strength D, because he's the Spiritual Liege. Lysander's Hammer will still be S10, however, as Concussive more than outweighs Strength D ().

Space Marine Scouts go down one point, but Camo Cloaks go up another point. Really, we need to push those Land Speeder Storms somehow!

Space Marine Devastator Squads are repackaged, and can now take Grav Cannons. They now cost 15$ more per box.

Dreadnoughts are repackaged, and can now also take Grav Cannons and Amps. They now cost 20$ more per box.

The new Codex: Space Marine rhinos will have two Variants: One, a Command Vehicle, which will work much like Forge World's Damocles Command Rhino. The other will be a special Variant of the Rhino with an Assault Ramp up front, making it an Assault Vehicle. It will also trade it's Stormbolter for +2 model capacity. U Mad, Space Wolves? If you have trouble picturing this, think the Allied boats from D-Day.

The new Land Raiders will be a Land Raider Helios, and a new Relic pattern of Land Raider that carries a Turbo Laser on the front, and no other weapons. It won't be a Super Heavy, so be prepared with tissues when someone rolls Weapon Destroyed.

My source claimed that all the colours will actually come out at the same time. The codex will only be available online and when you buy it you will get a random colour. The colour on the codex must match your minis to be legal.

Bolters become 4 shot st6 36" range assault weapons taking the cost of marines up by 10pts.

Dreadnoughts become superheavies with stD close combat attacks and stD melta guns at a minor cost increase.

Terminator squad's flamers become stD and every terminator can take one.

All veterans get +1ws/bs for no points increase.

None of that would be unfair would it? None of it seems silly right?

Each fires multiple strength D blasts. 10 points a model.

There is a special formation avaialbe by direct only order which lets you get the vortex guns for free. the rules come in the order and are available nowhere else. It's $500

All Space Marines now have the rule, "Light of the Emperor". Any model hit or wounded by a shooting or melee attack made by a model with "Light of the Emperor" must immediately take a Ld check on 3d6.

If passed, the model instantly sees the Light of the Emperor and becomes part of the Space Marine Player's army and collection. The Space Marine Player now owns this model and can fight with it for the rest of the battle before taking it home and painting it a proper hue of Ultramarine Blue.

If failed, the model is removed as a casualty with no saves of any kind allowed as it realizes its transgressions against the Emperor, drops to its knees weeping in regret, then commits Seppuku. The Space Marine Player still gets to take the model home and adjust its paint scheme before burial.

Models from Codex: Chaos Space Marines must reroll any passed Ld tests made for this rule.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Imperial Knights are now in-codex heavy support choices and have their cost reduced by 100 ppm to reflect their weaker in-game status. However, you still have to buy the separate rulebook at £50 which contains three pages of rules, ten pages of fluff written by a teenager, 70 pictures of the same three knights butchering chaos space marines and dark eldar, and 50 pages of Matt Ward showing you how to convert one into the new LoW, Rowboat Girlyman, using exclusively GW'S overpriced modeling products. .

He came back just to write the new Marine codex. Not vanilla marines. Its now Codex: Ultramarines, and contains tragic tales of the deaths of all non-ultramarines heroes from past codices. You may still field them in a Codex: Ultramarines army, as their rules dataslates will be available for 15$ each, with alternate chapter tactics available for a reasonable 10$ a dataslate. On the bright side, they included all 9 first founding chapters as separate dataslates! Thats right, this release counts as an update for Codex: Red, Wolf, Green and Silver marines as well!

32: GW play-testers don't seem to be using librarians. This proves that librarians are severely underpowered, and so the new codex will buff them heavily to correct this.
33: Assault Marines gain a special rule allowing them to assault even after firing Assault weapons.
34: Space Marines gain a special rule preventing them from assaulting if they used Rapid Fire weapons in the same turn. All marines are now 30% cheaper to compensate for this new penalty.
35: The Whirlwind has a special rule called "Shell Shock" - all pinning tests caused by the Whirlwind Missile Launcher are taken at a -2LD penalty. Note that the weapon doesn't actually have the "Pinning" special rule, but that doesn't matter... after all, it has "Barrage" and that gives it pinning anyway, right?
36: All template weapons used by marines gain the "Ignore Cover" special rule. The White Dwarf will describe this as an important change.

The Landraiders Lascannons are now Str D and specified as GODHAMMER LASCANNONS (the capitals are not an exaggeration). The other variants gain no such buffs but all variants are now a single choice for the same points cost.

There is now a Super-Heavy Rhino that carries Rhinos inside it, it's called the Centurino.

A new Dreadnought with a Winged Jetpack, it's a Flying Monstrous Creature and has a Super-Meltacannon (4 shot twin-linked multi-melta) and can fire off it's power fists as a ranged attack. Same cost as a normal Dreadnought.

The firing profile of the Power Fists is 60" S7 AP- Assault D6+1 Pinning & Ignores Cover. Firing the fists prevents you from using them until they regenerate at the start of your next turn. If you hit a target with the Super-Meltacannon, the Power Fists also gain twin-linked.

All marines can ds and assault. But only consolidate after.

But without completely invalidating the BA codex. Which wouldnt surprise me. I just expect some mysterious force field saves
