Hey everyone, Im a long time 40k player and i used to play FOW a while bak ago and was hoping to get back into it
I was hoping to have a German army that i could field on both Fronts for late war and was looking to play a soviet army and a british paratrooper army
German army, elite infantry, good quailty tanks and a good amount of them, ( if i remember the point system correctly i think im shooting for like 1500 to 2000 points total)
russian army i want good amount of t- 34s and a horde of infantry with some arty
british paratroopers i wanted mainly the infantry with tank support ( some cromwells and fire flies )
im thinking i should get the rule rule book, desperate measures and market garden, would these be two good books to use for what im looking for ??

Both of those book would be really good for what you want except the Russians. Desperate measures has the small hero tank companies

Red Bear might be a good option unless you specifically want to do Battle for Berlin.

Overlord is the Normandy book, as Normandy is where the D-Day landings (Operation Overlord) took place.

Overlord for Normandy Allies and Atlantik Wall for the Germans.
For the US player, if he's playing a Rifle company, have him check out Citizen soldiers.

There's a couple Normandy appropriate PDFs for the German player if he doesn't want to drop the cash on a book for now.

Piggybacking on this thread as I too wish to get back into the FoW fray, I wanted to play a South Africa army (originally I wanted to do Rhodesia but I don't even know if they fought on their own or were tossed into other bunches, hard to find info).
Is there any good plastic infintry kits for them?
I know there was a book about them, anyone know which one?

There are South African lists in 'Road to rome'
And I think 'North Africa' for mid war - no Rhodesian lists.
Many will use the generic Brit infantry, but iirc peter pig may have more specific models

I am a solid Brit player. South African lists can be had in the North Africa book, which you will have to get from ebay, or the Road to Rome book as they also fought in Italy. No separate south african forces in LW. There are no Rhodesian lists in any of the Africa books for EW or MW. Not recalling if there is a specific south african list in Hellfire and Back, which is the EW desert campaign book. Have played way more MW games in the desert, so having a hard time separating the two. The south africans brought the marmon herrington armored car to the mix for the commonwealth forces. It was woefully undergunned until they started removing the turrets and replacing them with captured enemy AT guns instead. Until the Grants and the Shermans started rolling in most tanks used by the south african units were undergunned since the brits just loved that 2pdr, which was mighty against enemy armor in EW, but near useless in MW.
No MW related plastic infantry kits for the brits that I am aware of. Most available currently are LW time frame so have PIATs instead of boys rifles for AT support.

Did South Africa fight in LW?
Suppose I'd just paint them differently for them to be Rhodesian, they were right next door and if I do recall, fought with South Africa, abit had their own markings at least.
Is there anywhere I can read about this, their list and stuff?

Yes, they fought in Italy and are in the Road to Rome compilation as Skriker noted above.
