Is there a site that offers the points for models in an army? I know the points are labeled on each card that comes with the model, but I wanted to know if I could find the point values of units before I commit to buying them.

Right on. I also saw the Forces of (faction) book features the points and models. Is that correct?

Yes.

The official app, Warroom, also has the stats on the cards which you can purchase. Its about $8 per faction, which gets you all the models ever released both now and in the future(the book only has units that were released at the start of Mk2). Plus its also a list building and damage tracking and rules reference tool.

The "Forces of" books have the costs and stats for the models that were in the game at the start of the new edition, around five years ago. More recent ones are scattered across the 4 or 5 expansion books since then.

War Room is definitely the way to go if you have the option.

Warroom is a 'codex' army builder, damage teacher, and rule book all in one. Way worth it.

I scoffed at paying for the faction s at first, now I'm slowly buying them all

Yeah, War Room definitely. Plus it's a great combat damage tracker and comes with all the battlegroup guys for free
