Hello! Decided to make a new thread to combine all the news rather than bits and bobs everywhere. So here's an introduction I guess!

So firstly an introduction, The Dice Bag Lady was set up 5 years ago, and has been making premium quality custom (and later - available to buy stock) dice bags, with images available to match armies, gaming clubs etc. These have built up a great reputation which I am very proud of. The entire thing (including the text to follow) is run by myself - Annie, and the bag patterns and development are all my own. (ie, I didn't google "bag pattern", I wrote it myself)

Please note, custom orders are currently unavailable due to injury

Due to repeating RSI injuries from making them, I have expanded into two other main "worlds" - SAGA products, and Believable Female Miniatures, under the side name of "Bad Squiddo Games"

Today sees the release of my first miniature from this range - Lathgertha the Shieldmaiden. There are many more to follow. The idea of these is that they will slot in with your regular troops to add a bit of fierce women into your fighting forces. I'm going to tackle other historical periods as well as genres.

http://thedicebaglady.net/shieldmaiden-lathgertha/

As well as my own miniature range, I stock BELIEVABLE FEMALE MINIATURES - It's the best phrase I could come up to decribe it - models handpicked from various other manufacturers, female, and appropriately clothed for their adventures. No chainmail bikinis or oversexualised poses. This has also been a resounding success. Turns out loads of people have been looking for this for a long time!
Link here - http://thedicebaglady.net/female-miniatures/

I also chose to stock the entire range of SAGA, as it's a game I really love, so thought hey I'm always raving about it, so I may as well sell it. The entire range isn't all sat on my shelves (the blister extras etc) but if it's on the site, it is, and you may well have it in your hands tomorrow if you order today! I do some great bundle deals, and have all the new things in stock as they come out. I can give you a lot of help and advice when it comes to choosing what you want/need, so never be afraid to email! I'm also the only place you can get Gripping Beast Approved SAGA dice bags, and I've created sweet little bundles involving those and dice and gems etc.

"Skint SAGA" is something I do where I split and combine plastic box sets to make really affordable warbands, great for on a budget (and beautiful models still), which is also very popular.
http://thedicebaglady.net/saga/

There is also...............Baggy the Bag. Who the hell is he - the mascot. The figurehead! Baggy is the chap from my logo, and he's become a bit of an internet celebrity in his own right, I've created all sorts of merch following his adventures (usually with Squidddos, the monsters who just want to cuddle him - which he hates as he's socially awkward), most of these are a few quid and kids (and adults!) love them. All the artwork is my own. (except the badge with a cat, that is from guest artist Doodlecats!)

http://thedicebaglady.net/official-merchandise/

There are even two models of him!

---

So I'll be putting all the news here, I work a zillion hours a day running all of this, but it's totally rewarding, I have some absolutely lovely customers, and it's generally great fun.

Cheers ladies and chaps!

FEMALE MINIATURES UPDATE

So far I have a mighty one miniature released in the Believable Female Miniatures Project - Lathgertha.

http://thedicebaglady.net/shieldmaiden-lathgertha/

But lots more is in progress! I can't wait to give more details and images, but it's basically because of casting delays, I don't want to show things, get excitement, then by the time it's released...nobody cares anymore.

The second two shieldmaidens are currently being cast and in the hands of painting legend Paul Cubbin, so I'd love to have them out for you either next week or the one after. At the very least a soft release at Phalanx. Keep changing my mind on their names! Number four might have to be reworked so she's dawdling behind.

I've started gathering a "team" of sculptors, so there's tonnes going on behind the scenes, as I have different people working on entirely different ranges, whilst keeping it from being too eclectic (so for example, making sure all from each range "fits" together scale etc)

Currently being sculpted are two modern miniatures and five historical.
Waiting to be put into molds are two more historical, and a....non human female!
I've got three more sculpts all concepted and nailed, just need some of the above to be released so I can get the cash flow to pay the guys!

So the shieldmaidens are coming along, but there's also "something completely different" happening too.
and here's a cheeky preview of one

Thanks as usual for all your support, but the BEST way to support, is money where your mouth is! The Believable Female Miniatures range I stock from a HUGE amount of people now has grown, way more since I first posted it, and it's all in stock ready for next day delivery! So go have a look, the faster I get the cash the faster I can churn out some exciting sculpts, have some excellent sculpting geniuses just waiting on the nod! I'm massively excited.

http://thedicebaglady.net/female-miniatures/

I now stock all these! >>> ARTIZAN DESIGNS – BELT FED GAMING – BLACK HAT MINIATURES – BOMBSHELL MINIATURES– COPPLESTONE CASTINGS – CP MODELS – CROOKED DICE – DARK SWORD MINIATURES – DISCWORLD MINIATURES – DGS GAMES – DRAGON BAIT MINIATURES – FENRIS GAMES – GODSLAYER – HERESY MINIATURES – HI TECH MINIATURES – KNIGHT MODELS – KROMLECH – MANTIC GAMES – MICRO ART STUDIOS – MIERCE MINIATURES – MILITIA MODELS – ON THE LAMB – OTHERWORLD MINIATURES – PULP FIGURES – REAPER – SCIBOR – SPACE VIXENS FROM MARS – STATUESQUE MINIATURES – STUDIO MINIATURES –TITAN FORGE – THE RAFT MINIATURES –WARGAMES FACTORY – WARM ACRE – WARZONE RESURRECTION – WEST WIND PRODUCTIONS – WOLSUNG MINIATURES

Here's the blurb:

"Meet Mog, an orc warrior. Myself & sculptor Phil Hynes have worked together to make a strong female orc that is simply “cool” , not gross or comedy (a common pitfall for many non human or larger size miniatures).

In Mog’s tribe, it’s common to see women taking part in the combat. It’s not something that happened suddenly, it just always was. If you can drive an axe into the skull of your foes, pick up the darned axe and get on with it.

Mog has quickly made a name for herself among the others, despite being one of their youngest fighters. Mutters across the troops carry longing for someone like her to overthrow the sleazy corrupt General Farak…this year may well be his last..

This 28mm scale resin miniature comes in three parts – body & hands with weapons, for multi pose options. She comes with a plastic 25mm base."

There's more of Mog's buddies already being worked on. She's up for pre order now, so you should totally go get yourself in the queue, the other shieldmaidens are up too!

Thanks Robert, haha the pink bubblewrap is a bit wild, I wasn't expecting it to be that...pink!

Finally got #2 and #3 shieldmaidens into production, out for release on Monday 15th June, but it's all live to go buy them on the site now.

http://thedicebaglady.net/bad-squiddo-games-miniatures/

Here's some casts next to each other, Hervor is the tallest, but she is a big girl. Pleased with how these are looking, can't wait to see them painted and plonked in the shieldwall with the chaps.

I'll have some excellent Paul Cubbin paintjobs by the end of the week too.

Glad to see you're back at it!
Thought of your store when I saw someone fielding one of your dice bags at the tournament held at WHW this Saturday!

I wish I could remember which design, it had a two large cartoony words on it and now I'm embarrassed at how unhelpful that is.

OUT NOW! Plenty in stock, I learnt from the shieldmaidens that demand is a lot more than I imagined, so instead of running out of stock have been squirreling away building up a good reserve of these before launching.

28mm scale resin. Individually or as a pack of two. The warrior version would fit nicely with the shieldmaidens (bung a round shield on her).

New sculpt to show off too

I've a growing pile of unseen sculpts at the moment that I'll be revealing! I'm in the process of switching my production from all resin to mostly metal in order to keep up with demand (and to be able to sell through other stores too, especially overseas) So currently just gathering them up until I have enough for a master mold...then spin spin spin. I've been keeping things back in fear of everyone "ooooh"ing, but by the time it's out the hype has gone. Alas, it's about time I show some stuff! ramble aside!

This is purposefully kept relatively simple and not too locked to anything in particular, so she can be used for historical or fantasy. My shop has been bustling with Frostgrave customers lately, so she could be good for that, or perhaps even a bodyguard for Margaret of Anjou?

Sculpted by Mark Evans, and will be popped onto Paul Cubbin's increasing pile of stuff to paint as soon as I have some casts

Watch this space!

NEW!: FROSTGRAVE

My shop (and stalls at shows) have been bustling with people shouting "Frostgrave!" at me. I've been quite ill and off radar for a few things, but I finally got the chance to sit down and read the rules last night, and it looks fantastic (I've had the books and plastics in stock for a while but hadn't the chance to do anything with them). I'll be playing soon. So today I was inspired to set up a whole new page to help out people looking for the minis.

So a bit of a "one stop shop". I can get the official models in as well to requests, but for now I thought I'd mostly build on the experience that people have been coming to me for female warbands, or at least a few female figures.

I've categorised them into classes, just suggestions but much easier than being faced with the huge wall of minis I had previously. There's also the new 4ground terrain coming soon, and my gem shop (biggest there is!) now has another string to it's bow as a big old treasure chest.

The Statuesque heroic heads I have been informed (link to a pic here http://thedicebaglady.net/statuesque-and-north-star-soliders-kitbash/) fit perfectly as well, so a really cool and quick way to female them up.

Some of the female minis stock has taken a hammering lately from this but most of it has restocks en route as we speak.

http://thedicebaglady.net/frostgrave/

I'm going to get somebody to paint me a warband - as I just don't have time lately - out of the miniatures from the shop. I'll be putting a post up tomorrow with which minis I'm going for, mostly the ones with lots of fur on! The painted miniatures means it will be a million times easier and quicker for me to play (I have a habit of undercoating things for games then never getting time to finish, and losing excitement for the game) and they can then go in the cabinet at trade shows as well!

Don't hesitate to contact me if you require any help picking the ladies or wanting to see how they scale up against each other - email is better than PM, details are on the website.

Cheers for reading!

I've started to make an orc warband of lots of different classes (I do the sketch, Phil Hynes does the putty!) The idea behind these is that they are just "cool", it is seems to be a bad but common pitfall for non human and larger human ladies to be comedic or gross, which isn't very nice.

These have just been painted by Paul Cubbin, he's done a stunning job as usual, sickeningly good job...

More coming soon as well! More mages, and other archetypes.

I still really want to see more dynamism in the poses for a lot of these. Mog, especially, looks great, except that she is just standing there holding her weapons out on either side, like something GW would have done 25 years ago. :(

I think you need to get your sculptors to look at, for example, the poses in some medieval fighting manuals, or some of the better larp photography out there (e.g. Oliver Facey's shots of Empire LARP: http://oliverfacey.co.uk/empire/nggallery/empire/empire-winter-solstice-2014 ).

Here's an example -- look at the variety of fighting poses here...

Cheers Darktraveller!

Ian, I've got a big pile (!) of sculpts yet to be released, ranging through static and dyanamic poses, fear not.

Mog has done her job then, as she started off as a bit of a heartfelt side project, which turned into "We need more!" So it's kind of the style of the Orc Warband, though more may end up looking more modern as they go on. Turns out there's a lot of love out there for that Oldhammer feel, but it's not to everyone's taste, which is fine

The style of these orcs get my vote – great concepts, lovely execution. The gritty paintjob is fantastic, too.

For what it's worth, I'd like to add my little round of applause for this business venture – a great breath of fresh air.

Have you seen Jon Boyce's Colony 87 miniatures? I thought Lady Greiss might be a suitable addition to your (excellent) range.

Been quiet on here but busy everywhere else, slightly disheartened by the lack of replies so stopped posting so much!

New releases though so I'm back:

Thanks for all the support with the original shieldmaiden unit, I had no idea it would end up impossible to keep in stock, the demand was crazy!

It's now back in stock, in METAL! Woohoo!

Also a brand new unit to show you, berserkers. Of course not the nude/flailing boobs you might expect.

These ladies are filled with fury and redemption and will hack and slash in a blind rage at anybody in the path of their whirlwind of destruction. Fuelled by adrenaline, they sometimes struggle to tell friend from foe, and are often seen quivering, frothing and gnashing their teeth, sometimes biting their gnarled teeth down onto shields, weapons and whatever else is to hand.

Obviously great for dark ages but also generic fantasy such as Frostgrave and actually the third one across (I haven't named them yet) looks like there's a post apoc conversion in there too!

Sculpted by John Morris/Mystic Spirals, same chap who did my Boudiccas. He'll be painting them when he gets a chance too. The Boudiccas are being put into metal as we speak, and there are two more celts to come [hopefully] in time for Crisis!

More dark ages/Vikings being worked on!
