Welp.

I wasn't that over invested in this game. Honestly. I just wanted to find a miniature game to play with the club and the roomie. But after a little bit of haggling I've found myself with a starter army for almost every Warmachine Faction (sans Convergence, but hopefully soon) and one of the Hordes factions not in the two player box (trollbloods) soon to be followed by a two player starter, giving me 3 of the 4 Hordes factions.

I don't have any minions or mercs yet even though some of the models are my favorite in the whole game, but they didn't really strike me as good starting points for anyone.

So I guess now it's up to me to generate interest in this game to make my investment worth it and maybe get some sweet tourney support in the local scene.

I guess that makes me the demoman

Tips? Tricks? Help??

Do you have a battlebox for those factions? Or just a starter army?

Demo model lists
If battlebox;
Use that, but only against other battle boxes

If army;
1 caster 1 jack 1 unit I find works alright, try and match points

The game itself
There are several ways to go about this. One is to be the "I'll show you how this game REALLY works" demo leader, and show them just how quickly to execute a caster kill, then just how to lock a guy out of a zone, and stuff like that. I've heard some good things about this method, but it isn't my choice.

I prefer to make them work for it, while showing off as much of the game as I can. I'll throw models at other models, headbutt them, slam them, do whatever I can to show the depth of the game. And I'll usually let them win, but I'll force them to do it by using some of those avenues. I'll leave a caster behind a jack, easily where he could get the jack slammed over him, and if they take it give them lots of encouragement, if they think of an alternative way to get to him do the same, and if not carry on playing and set up another option the next turn. I won't throw my caster out there, but there'll be an avenue that they can get the win, and I won't just not attack and what not. But I want them to have to buy attacks (either with focus or fury), cast spells, use animi, everything like that. I find that gets them far more into the game.

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

I'm getting three battleboxes: Cygnar, Cryx, Protectorate

Then I have a small selection of Khador models (Strakhov, pButcher, Man O War Shocktroopers, Kodiak)

An okayish selection of Trollbloods (battlebox, DTMauler, Bouncer, Jarl Skuld)

And a large selection of Retribution models, which is probably my faction of choice and probably the faction I'll be playing including Ravyn, Mage Hunter Strike Force, Battle Mages, Dawnguard Invictors, Ghost Sniper, Arcanist, and a Phoenix heavy Myrmidon.

I know I need to pick up some infantry to really make the Trollbloods jive, and like I said I'll be getting the Hordes 2 Player starter to add Circle and Legion to the list, so that somebody who wants to play can pick up pretty much any army and try them.

Is there any strategy to introduce the game to people besides "here look at these shiny models, want to play a game with them with me?"

Also is it really important I add Skorne and Convergence to the list? I understand Convergence is weird so I may hold off on them... but if someone else picks up Retribution as their main, I may switch to Cygnar or CoC

I've never had to approach someone cold, usually I see someone express interest and offer to show them how to play, rather than me have to convert them. So I can't help you there.
