Hey guys,
inspired by some awesome painting logs (old and new ones) I've started a new Dark Eldar army and want to show the results of my artistic skills in this forum. I hope this log keeps me motivated to finish an painted army, including some cool conversions to achieve some more variability. I've been painting for about 12 years now, the pictures below where made a few months ago. Most of the time i was only painting but with the 7th ed i started to get into the game. I choosed Dark Eldar because of the brilliant plastic kits and the glasshammer aspect of tis army. Some Eldar and Harlequin allys are planed.
The color scheme should be very dark, pale and evil looking with a small color palette. Tanks and vehicles bringing some color into the army which uses mostly dark/light contrasts.
These ar my first models:
Archon

Succubus

Haemonculus

Troops and Elites
Spoiler:
Kabalite Warriors

Incubi

Blasterborn

Troupe Master

Hope you enjoy this minis, C&C are welcome. Please forgive mistakes in language, i'm no native speaker
Cheers!

Are the Incubi made out of warriors with hellion weapons? They look AWESOME, and I might need to steal it if I eventually get around to the DE army I've been planning for years

Love that Archon. Much better pose than the stock model.

Hey guys,
thank you very much!
@whiskeytango: I totally agree with you about the stock model. The converion from the codex is just too easy and cool for not using it

@Rygnan: You're right, I used warrior bodies and hellion arms/weapons. The arms fit pretty well to the bodies, I guess there where only small gaps to be filled. Actually there where five of these guys but two melted away when I tried to remove the old color scheme I had before Feel free to use this idea, go on and start the army

I'm thinking about more Incubi but can't decide how to make them. The three I already have are pretty cool but I've seen a conversion a few days ago with the warrior bodies and the weapons of WE Wildwood Rangers of the WHFB universe. Whats your opinion to this? Keep the Hellion weapons or swith to the Wildwood Rangers?

So, here's a small update about what I'm working on. For this project a friend gave me his airbrush stuff, thanks for that My first attempts were the Raider and th Reavers. All are still WIP:

Some close ups from the gems and the control panel in the spoiler.
Spoiler:

There are a few more models on my desk waiting to be painted, build or converted. I should finish models before buying new ones... xD Stay tuned

A small update for the weekend.
The painting of the raider is finished. Maybe I add some freehands later but for now it left my painting station. This will be the scheme for my vehicles.

Spoiler:

Actually planed for later, I painted the Shadow Seer for my Harlequine allies. This guy really caught me in two long painting sessions (~12h) and I'm very proud of the result. Taste the rainbow!

What follows next? There are some Wracks which aren't in my current list yet but I like the models. Maybe I test some new conversions for my Incubi with Wildwood Ranger weapons (see post #4)...
C&C are welcome, stay tuned

Hey mate,
Cool looking stuff. I enjoyed the 1st set of pictures, especially the top one and the way you painted his helmet.

But the Shadowseer? That's on a different level. Amazing, and the green and (red to-) yellow degrades are amazing. Have you used the airbrush for these as well, or just the brush.

Keep it up

Hey ciuncky,
thank you, I'm glad you like the pics. You're right the Seer is a different level than the rest off my army. I wanted to create an eyecatcher differing primary in color and secondary in painting level. But for the rest of the army I can't hold that level All inantry is painted with brushes, the vehicles and jetbikes will be partly painted with airbrush.

Small update:
The five Wracks are build and primed and wait for some paint. No conversions, nothing special... I want to try out the Scalpell Squadron formation so there will be some more wracks in the future. I also made some ideas about coming conversions. First there will be an fallen Autarch, leading allies Eldar. There will be small kitbash based on the new plastic kit. Here's the first attempt:

The second conversion planed is a special Raider for my Grotesques (or other Haemonculus stuff). This conversion takes time because of missing bits and kit -.- The Grotesques are already painted:

Hope you like my ideas and models, please subscribe if you like or got some criticism.

Hi guys,
again a small update. My Autarch kitbash is almost painted. I just don't know which colors are best for the wings. Do you have any suggestions? I guess red could be good but also too much too...

Please let me know what you think, thanks

hey what are the grotesques made from ? are they the crypt horror models with talos bits and pieces ? they look really good

do you have a picture of them next to a normal warrior for scale

Hey, thank you.
@asgog: You're right, crypt horrors, talos bitz and some small GS works. Here the picture for the scale:

My Autarch is ready except the wings... At the moment they are black with grey highlights. Simple, but why not? I don't know if I'm content with this. In another forum somebody gave me the idea to color the wings in the colors of the harlis, purple/red und turquoise/blue. What do you think about it?

Spoiler:

This is a beautiful plog. I really love the black with the turquoise around the face on the masks.

Some really great conversions too, those Talos with the Wraith tails are wicked.

Thank you guys for these kind words. I'm spending hours of searching for some inspirations, so why shouldn't I give some back?^^

Currently Im working on a secondary DE force (Kabal of Black Heart/Corsairs). What do you do with models you don't like and nobody wants to buy anymore? Right, convert it. My gunslinger archon/prince is on of these models. I realy don't like the old resin archon so Iput on some bits to give him a, well, different charakter...

Pew pew... I can shoot lazors with my fingers!

This archon won't be the last. I got some more ideas I have to realise xD

Very cool. I kinda want you to leave him without pistols just for the kicks.

Maybe he's doing some sort of speech and cracking jokes, maybe he's got laser hands, or maybe his pistols have a stealth device. Who really knows.

Really digging this Archon! I love the concept of the "laser hands". It makes me think of the employee gunfight in Hyperion base from Tales from the borderlands. It's hands down the funniest moment in gaming history in my opinion and this is the 40k version of that. Well done.

Haha, made my day! I really agree with you

Excellent skills, especially like the work on the first Archon and the Shadow Seer.

Thank you very much. These too are the models which took relativly the most time for sculpting/painting...^^

The bits for the next archon are on the way. So I'll show some older pics off my captured Farseer...

I wanted some additional details on the model like the hovering bones. Sadly I don't like it that much anymore :/ Imo it looks a bit overloaded. But I won't change it.

Coming soon: some unusual mandrake conversions... Hope you like my stuff, C&C welcome

Well, again a lot of time passed...

Today I'm presenting the results of a painting challenge I made last Nov/Dec: 1250 points Eldar (CW) in 38 days (it was a very spontaneous idea...).

The target was a new playable army for an club tournament. First I failed my challenge, 1150p finished and then made last rank xD But the army is growing and I'm turning it in an Eldar Corsair army, Void Dragons style. The main inspiration came from some Eldar plogs from here^^

These guys are some Reavers with lasblasters (weapons are modified Splinter carbines):

Reaver Band with 2x Brace of pistols, 2x Fusion guns and a Felarch

Void Dreamer

Some vehicles

These are some WIPs. First a Baron with Dissonance pistol and Venom blade

5 more Reaver

Voidstorm Band with the same loadout as the Baron. The pistols took some time to copy... but I like them a lot

Hope you like them C&C welcome!

Lots of fantastic stuff here. That challenge is crazy, I'll be lucky to get one unit done in a month, 1250 just sounds insane. Your conversions are all awesome, love that void dreamer and I dig the scheme you have for the force in general.

These are so damn cool absolutely love the void dreamer. The gloss on the helmet is perfect (makes me want to re-do the shonky stars on mine for a jet-black look), and the posing if perfect. Looks like he's force-choking someone!

Big fan of the modded weapons too. The splinter rifle/lasblasters andshredder/fusion guns are brilliant, and the home-made dissonance pistols are perfect

Also love the use of Kabalite heads with the spikes shaved off. Gives them a really cool inbetween craftworlders and kabalites look which is very fitting for corsairs

Yes, it was very spontaneous and crazy... It didn't took that much time (airbrush, easy color scheme, medium demands...) and in the end it was a hardware problem. The reason I failed was that my airbrush didn't work the way it used to be (or I was jsut unable to use it properly xD) and I was too frustrated the last day to continue... But all in all I'm very pleased with the result

Ok, didn't see that one coming But YW and I_W are some of my favorite plogs around here too The succubus head is from the eternal guard (Wood elves/WHFB).

I think it doesn't have to be big conversions all the time. I wanted to keep them simple and as you said something more evil than light Eldar but less than Dark Eldar^^ The dissonance stuff was made after the tournament so it didn't have to be that easy to make anymore

Sucks to hear you were beaten by a hardware issue. All the same you did an amazing amount of work incredibly fast and you're right to be proud of it. I also agree with you on the small conversions approach. Big sweeping changes to the model are often very cool but sometimes just a very simple change, be it modifying a pose or a weapons/bodypart swap is all it takes to change the silhouette of the model and set it apart.

Holy trinity eh? Does it come with a clubhouse and cookies? Gummy and SoaJ you guys are making me blush here

Oh, I don't think I've mentioned your previous works!

Absolutely love your female Archon conversion. She's got a sort of vagabond look about her which I really like

Must get round to doing something like that myself what's the body you've used?

Your Fallen Autarch is brilliant too, and alongside the rest of your DEldar HQs were instrumental in convincing me of how damn cool the Reaver heads look on HQ units really impressive OSL on the Archon too

Bonus points for Mr 'Alas, poor Yorrick, I knew him well' Harlequin too
