Hello! Not touched the game since 5th Edition, and I was never a prolific player even then... But recently got the urge to dive back in. Not super worried about being maximally competitive, although I want to make the list as good as it can be within its constraints (i.e the list might be better as pure Eldar if winning was the only consideration, but I love the
DE transports and am not a big fan of the Eldar ones...). Don't even know if there's people that play
40k over here in Korea, but I guess I'll find out
Otherwise there's always Vassal, and might possibly be moving back to Europe sometime soon after 5 years in asia, we'll see. If there are tournaments here (or in Japan since it's so close and I go there all the time anyway), I'd definitely play them tho.
Anyhow, after trying to somehow make a harlequin/eldar or harlequin/
DE mix, I eventually gave up because their formations are a fething joke and force you to take way too much gak you don't want. Shame because the Death Jester and Shadowseer are some of my absolute favorite models
GW has ever made.
So, went with
DE/Eldar in the end. How does this sound?

DE - Think I might be taking a bit too many blasters/lances for the point level, and the splinter racks are probably wasted with so few warriors? Maybe remove some blasters, add warriors (or some archon tools) would be better. Could drop like 4 blasters and the splinter racks and bump the warrior squads up to full size.
To bump it up to 1k, turn the Trueborns back into Warriors, and add an aspect host

I *think* I've managed to do this without violating any rules, but
tbh I don't have a solid grasp of 7th rules yet (got a 15 hour plane ride coming up next week, seems like a decent time to get myself up to speed).
Some things I'm not sure about/concerned about:
- The
DE Warlord trait table seems extremely hit or miss.. half of the traits seem pretty solid, but the other half are just.... Completely useless? As you might have noticed however, I tooled the autarch in the Eldar
CAD for a sort of suicidal solo character, so he probably shouldn't be the warlord (though I could re-tool him into something less suicidally aggressive of course).
- I know a lot of competitive
DE lists don't even take any kind of
HQ except for like a Lhaemia... Feels sort of boring tho and would prefer to not have to do that if possible. One of the bigger grievances I have with the the
DE dex is how extremely limited their characters are in customization :( Anyway, for now I left the archon extremely sparsely dressed because I'm not sure putting points into the tools that he does have available, is actually worth it?
- My initial attempt at a 1000 pt starting list had min
DA and min warrior units (all in raiders), but I have a suspicion that at such a low point level, the additional
HQ and double troop tax is a bit too much to justify (hence the switch to an allied aspect host instead of full
CAD)..
Also, unrelated to list making, if anyone has any cool examples of Archon conversions, I'd love to see them. The standard
GW one... Not a big fan of the bald look, he's a few spikes short of a starring role in Hellraiser. Though I guess giving him a non-bald head is easy enough
