So looking to build up an AdMech army so I thought the white dwarf formation adeptus mechanicus War concovation would be a good start. For those who dont know the formation consists of 1 Cult mechanicus Battle congregation Detachment, 1 Skitarii Battle Maniple, and 1 Imperial Knight oathsworn. They each get the bonus of their own formation and in addition they all get: Machine brotherhood: All units have the canticles of the omnissiah special rule. Alpha Dominus: tech priest gets to reroll warlord trait. Might of the adeptus mechanicus: All weapons and wargear options taken by units in this formation, including relics, are Free Also all weapons lose the gets hot special rule. So basically you only have to pay for the units themselves and not for any weapons for anything.

So here is the basic list I was thinking of:

Knight oathsworn:
Knight crusader, Icarus auto cannon, Melta gun,

Skitarii Battle Manaple:

10 Vanguard, 3 plasma calivers, unsure what to take on sergent
10 Rangers, 3 arch rifles, unsure what to take on sergent
5 Rust stalkers, unsure what to take on sergent
7 infiltrators, unsure what to take on sergent
2 Dunecrawlers, Icarus array on both, 1 with Mindscanner probe, 1 cognis manipulator
3 Balistari, Not sure what to do with these guys. I could run them as dragoons instead and save 30 points to get another infiltrator


Cult Mechanicus Battle Congregation:
Tech Priest Dominus, Not sure what gear to give them yet.
3 Katapran destroyers, Not sure what gear to give them yet.

So this list as it stands is 1840 points and I dont know what to do with allot of the wargear I get access to. What do you guys think? What options would be best on things?

!. There's no reason not to load your models with all wargear possible. Take both the probe and manipulator on both onagers for example: there is no reason not to do this as it's all free!

2. Honestly I feel the arc rifles won't be that useful on the rangers. They're pretty much outclassed by the heavy grav cannons in terms of anti-vehicle power. I'd say you'd be better off giving them the arquebuses (or is it arquebusi?) and use them for objective camping, or give them plasma calivers for more tasty plasma shots.

3. Would highly recommend the dragoons over the balistarii. Whilst they probably won't survive the game, the dragoons will absolutely plow through light/medium infantry and can't be scratched in combat by anything weaker than str5, so ork boys and guardsmen will have a rough time with them. Just be warned though that if the unit retreats or if you completely wipe it out, they will be incredibly vulnerable. The balistarii are, again, outclassed by other units. They're a not bad AA choice but they're still completely outclassed by the onagers.

4. In terms of relics, I would go for: Mask on the vanguard, not really sure about the rangers, pater radium or skull of Elder Nikola on the ruststalkers, phosphenix on the infiltrators, don't know enough about Cult relics but possibly give the Dominus the raiment and have him sit in the vanguard squad? That or the glove and have him sit behind the knight and double repair it, which could be pretty funny.

5. On the kataphrons go for grav/flamer. You won't regret it.

6. In terms of sergeant equipment, I would recommend the following:

Vanguard Alpha: Arc pistol, arc maul, digital weapons, conversion field

Ranger Alpha: Should probably keep the rifle, arc maul cause why not, digital weapons, conversion field

Ruststalker Princeps: Dataspike

Infiltrator Princeps: Infoslave skull

Dominus: Not sure, don't have the cult book yet. but his base weapon loadout looks fine

OH also omnispexes on the skitarii squads are a MUST take.
