I was opening the fridge one night and I noticed the magnets on the fridge door. That's when I came up with this magnetic idea to solve my X-Wing slip problem.
Real Magnetic Mat 36' x 72'
We started the process by developing prototypes with both 3'x3' and 3'x6' size magnetic playing surfaces. As an X-Wing gamer, I knew the mat had to fulfill some key requirements.
1) The playing surface needed to be portable, with the ability to roll up and have the ability to unroll and remain flat.
2) The game bases would need to be modified by adding magnets, but they could not interfere with the game design in any way.
If you've never handled neodymium magnets before, you will be amazed at their strength. Neodymium magnets are over 10x stronger than the strongest ceramic magnets. A much smaller neodymium magnet will have a greater holding force. Perfect for adding to game board pieces. Through play testing we found the right balance of size and power needed to enhance your game play. Twenty Neodymium magnets will be included with each reward.
3) It would be nice to have the ability to print really cool designs on top of the playing surface.
Epic Mat Size
36' X 36' Magnetic Mat
4) The corners would need to be squared off.
All Magnetic War Mats will have square corners
5) The price would have to be better or comparable to the current game mat prices. (See our Rewards)
6) War Mats should be Tough!
7) Last but not least, it would need to reduce the slip on my current mats. Simply put your old mat over a Magnetic War Mat, use the magnetic bases, and your slip will be reduced.
Looks great to me. I wish it had been made a year ago.

The Polito form is dead, insect. Are you afraid? What is it you fear? The end of your trivial existence?
When the history of my glory is written, your species shall only be a footnote to my magnificence.
Well they did have the shipping prices on there previously but seemed to have removed them but I remember whdn I checked this out earlier it was over $55 for shipping international, so no thanks
New Artist joins Magnetic War Mats with 3x6 Trench Map - Gabriel
"I found photos of the original Deathstar trench model used for filming the movie, studied them, and puzzled out the tile arrangement, filling in the blanks with similar patterns of tiles. The finished product is actually 9 feet by 17 feet, but by request I've cropped it down to keep the trench scale closer to the X-wing scale for 6 feet by 3 feet." - Gabiel
I love this idea but just unfortunately don't have the funds free at the moment. It's had a nice boost in backers the last two days, though. Just 4 hours to go now!
I've got a $1 pledge in and hoping to snag one of these mats off of his website later (http://www.warmats.com)
