Okay, so I'm one of those guys who is REALLY excited about AoS because I have an all Slayer Army from the 'Storm of Chaos' days, that I can field again.

Alternatively, I have the models to run a 2nd unit of 'Long Drongs' and just run one unit of Slayers. Tactically, I think this would work better, but will try both. I also have a converted Runelord, so fit the Slayer theme. So might throw him in there instead of the Dragonslayer. Increasing the Rend on Long Drong's isn't a bad idea, and 6+ Secondary save would be fun later on.

I also have a Slayer Runelord! And a Slayer Lord who will one day find Shieldbearers...

As for actual list commentary - I agree that a Runelord would be better than the Dragon Slayer for the 50pt lists.

(On a side note, it's a little weird that they say what to use the Goblin Hewer and Doomseeker models as, but not Long Drong's, isn't it?)

Well, the models were dated even when SoC was out. I'm not surprised they didn't make it in, but it's an easy enough substitute either way.

Yeah, I think I'll go 'Runeslayer'. Might even play 2 units of just Slayers and put him in the 35 list. They'll get shot up to pieces, but can't think of a better way to have fun with that 6+.

Would you b ok with changing the thunderer a to iron drakes? I think they're much better...

I looked at the Drakes. If you've seen the 'Long Drong' models, even the 5+ that Thunderers have is pushing it, at least from appearances. So the main reason for Thunderers is that it's the closest fit to what the models are.

Also, I honestly have close to 60 of the Long Drong models. So when we get to larger games, I think I'll get more mileage out of the Thunderers. They get the bonus for shooting, and with the bonuses to bravery and the 1/2 losses from Battleshock with the Banner around, I think they'll outlast the Drakes. That and I won't have to purchase any models.
