I'm pretty new to 40k and I'm about to get an army commissioned. Just wanted to be sure my list is solid before dropping a lot of money on it. I'm 3 points over, but I mostly play friendly games so it's not a big deal.

Slaughtercult:
- Chaos Lord w/ Juggernaut, Blood Forged Armour, Axe of Khorne, Lightning Claw, Sigil of Corruption
- 7 Chaos Cultists w/ Cultist Champion, Autopistols and CCW
- 7 Chaos Cultists w/ Cultist Champion, Autopistols and CCW
- 4 Possessed w/ Possed Champion
- 7 Bloodletters w/ Bloodreaper
- 7 Bloodletters w/ Bloodreaper

Gorepack:
- 3 Chaos Bikers w/ x2 Meltguns
- 3 Chaos Bikers w/ x2 Meltguns
- 10 Flesh Hounds
- 10 Flesh Hounds
- 10 Flesh Hounds

Warengines:
- Maulerfiend w/ Lasher Tendrils
- Maulerfiend w/ Lasher Tendrils
- Soulgrinder w/ Phlegm Bombardment

My general strategy is to scout the dogs with the Lord and have that be my first wave. by the time they make it into combat my Maulerfiends and Bikers will have made their way up the table to be the second wave and focus on the armor. The Soulgrinder will bombard their back field and take out any fliers Cultists and Blood Letters will grab objectives. I will use my Tithe points to get t FnP and the extra attack.

I have a few questions. Is Blood Forge Armor worth taking over a relic weapon? Is taking taking Soulgrinder better than adding a 3rd Maulerfiend? I'm also considering adding an ally detachment of CSM to get Be'lakor and just move my Cultists from the Slaughtercult to the troops slot of the allied detachment.

Any comments or tips would be appreciated!

It is my opinion that you shouldn't take anything non-daemonkin if you are taking daemonkin so you can get the most out of your blood tithe.

Couple of questions:

* Why walk your bloodletters up and use them for objectives? They have very little staying power with their low toughness and zero range weapons. I also have to question why take a bloodreaper with them. You already have cultists for cheap objective grabbing, it may be better to deep strike your bloodletters and soul grinder as an anvil instead.

* Why lashers on the maulers? Any vehicle they come across WILL die in one round of assault, and any dreadnaughts should fall in two. If you're trying to use them to mess with characters there are better options and remember that ANY model in base contact with the mauler with lashers gets hit by them, including your own models. The extra 1 - 2 attacks from the magma cutters are a better and cheaper investment to me.

* Why no rhino for the possessed? They are not beasts so they will be slogging it up the field for practically the entire game. What I've noticed with daemonkin is, if you're doing it right, you're pushing the enemy back, meaning any units trying to run to keep up that aren't moving 12 inches aren't going to be involved in any of the fun. I put mine in a rhino, move it six, rotate, drop them six, and run them hopefully six more. This gets them decently across the field and in assaults in turn 2 or 3. Plus they are 3+/5++ so don't worry about them being shot to death, they won't be.

* If you only have one HQ and it's your juggerlord than yeah blood forged armor is great. If he was your second HQ or accompanying a bloodthirster or something, a relic weapon would be better.

* What's your plan for the blood tithe? Are you using it only for buffs or are you going to be summoning in more units or what?

I've run daemonkin quite a lot and love them to death so I've seen what works and what doesn't. You've got the makings of a pretty good army so far, you just need to look at every unit individually and ensure they have a purpose and plan of attack.

Also, try to never go over points even in friendlies.

Thanks for the response!

- I like the idea of deep striking the bloodletters. I put a Bloodreaper in each to try and soak up as many challenges as possible. That would generate the most Blood tithe wouldn't it?

- I put lasher tendrils on the Maulerfiends because my main oppenent is usually Tyranids and and it sounded like a good idea. But are Lasher Tendrils just a waste of points?

- I added a rhino for the possessed, because that is a good point. If I foot slogged them they wouldn't get anywhere.

- Is there a way to add more than one Lord and still keep my formations?

- I plan on using the tithe to get the extra attack on everything then, using Boon of Khorne, throw FnP on everything as well. Would the be the most effective way to spend them? Or is summoning better?

- And would having a 3rd Maulerfiend be better than the Soulgrinder? Or should I keep it?

I may be wrong, but I think you could keep your formations and get a 2nd HQ by adding a normal FoC chart (can you do this?). Take the cultists from the slaughtercult and put them in troops, put all the warengines in heavy support, add another HQ for the HQ slot.

If you put LT on the mauler, I would DS the soul grinder so it charge vechiles and use it's power fist in CC.

He's been ferried through hell on a ship that's ten thousand years old to some godforsaken, war-torn rock; He is one of ten million men snatched from his home to fight a war he barely understands; He wages war against devouring hiveminds, ravenous demons and hordes of hyper-advanced aliens with strange technologies and sorceries he never dreamed existed; no one will remember his sacrifice, there will be no records of his deeds, no glorious parades in his honor, and no remembrance of his name. All he will earn is a shallow, unmarked grave on a forgotten world untold lightyears from home.

Yet for all this thankless sacrifice a Guardsman is a man, just like you. He has no millennia-old genetic engineering, no prophetic leader, no miracles of faith. He has his lasgun, his orders, and those beside him. He is the Imperial Guard.

And he will hold the line.

2nd thite you use from the Boon of Khorne only applies to the units inside the slaughter cult. You need to reread the boon of khorne till the end. So you will either give 1 more attack to the whole army and FnP to only the slaughter cult or FnP to whole army and +1 attack to slaughter cult. I always go for the last one. FnP on everyone is big in my experience. And possessed when buffed with FnP, +1 attack, mutations etc are real mini monsters. You will be impressed

You can't even do the latter. Boon of Khorne's free Blood Tithe has to cost less then the one you paid for
