Hey everyone, I recently bought a Frontline Gaming Fat Mat Urban Combat 2, here's a pic: http://store.frontlinegaming.org/fat-mat%3A-urban-combat-2-6x4/dp/849

I would like to decorate it with some cool sci-fi terrain that could work in a city, ruins, wasteland, etc.

I looked through Kickstarter and there were some interesting completed projects but nothing really ongoing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any homebrew or scratchbuild guides? Any interesting projects I could support that would look cool on this type of map?

Thanks!

I've always been a fan of hobby shops. I made a Chaos bunker with a foam half-sphere and toothpicks. Also pieces from your bitz box on a piece of cardboard spray painted black and be sick. Pretty much anything can be spray painted black to make ruins. And if your budget is bigger there are tons online.

WAAAGH!!!

Pegasus Games gothic ruins are really nice, IMHO. I have a few; I just need to base them.

They also do a really good 'techno' bridge.

I've bought resin craters from ebay before.

I'd suggest base spray black then do rough black/grey coats to get the blasted ruins effect.

The FLG gaming guys are supposed to be coming out with their own terrain line (partnered with someone else) something at the end of August.

There's a few really good YouTube channels.. Eons of Battle and Terrain Tutor are both great guides at scratchbuilding.
