i have played 1 game of warmachine in the past against a player that did not know the rules very well and well i did not know them at all... even so i had retribution box set i used and ended up winning... but did not feel like a win cause it was pretty confusing game with given circumstances. In my area warmachine is pretty popular as is 40k. I just dont get down to the stores much to play and playing at home is more comfortable and better setup for wargaming etc.

I sold my retribution army cause it did not hold much interest for me at the time and i was wanting to just get the 2 player box set as title says.

That said i watched how to play video by PP as well as played a video game through steam and sort of understand it better. The reason i am posting here is to ask how is the game on 6x4 table? I notice it is played on 4x4 table mostly. I also want to know how the game works with lots of terrain as i like games with lots of terrain as to me it adds to the game as opposed to old warhammer fantasy throw out minimal terrain and go approach.... probably why i love Bolt Action at the moment .... tables really add to the flavor to me.

Finally, i dont really plan to build on the 2 forces i get but if i were some suggestions would always be welcome. I mainly say I dont play to add to the armies in the starter because my main intention is to treat it like my Zombicide game to play here and there with random people for something different and my funds are planned to focus in other areas of the hobby ... course if i were to get addicted i guess i will eat these words lol.

Thanks guys.

Lots of terrain can benifit some armies and hinder others. Menoth for example does not have much pathfinder in their army so lots of terrain will slow them down, while legion will just march through the terrain likes it no problem. Look at the steamroller packet I believe in there they give you idea of how much terrain should be on the board.

Steamroller lays out terrain guidelines really well.

As to a 6x4 table. Unless you are running Unbound games at over 100pts I would avoid it. The game was designed for 4x4 tables, and you will find that movement and shooting ranges will break down a bit with the added space.

Casters control areas play a decent role in game and that will get all out of whack as well.

As to the two player boxes. They are decent. They offer a good starting point and come with a mini rules book so its handy to get a friend into the game. Another option might be for each of you to pick up an All in One army box. They are a fantastic value and give you models that are more to the Core of the faction you are looking to pick up.
