I was playing against Eldar one day at one if the closest GW stores near me while I was playin Tau. The eldar player had the Wraith knight with 2 Str D weapons behind a Ruins building. I shot at it and it was given a 2+ cover save when the building gives a 4+ because of the Rules. The knight didn't have any special add ons to give it a +1 to its cover save but I was able to see it eventhough 90% was hidden

Overall I think the guy was cheating for the cover save. what do you think?

U should have called a judge.

U play tau so use your marker lights to ignore cover. Also the Wk gets a 2+ armor save.

Vanished Completely

Was it obstructed by the Ruins, also known as behind cover, or was it standing in the Ruins, also known as in cover?

Would still not equal a 2+ Cover Save either way, not without something to boost the save, but this is a chance to highlight a unusual quirk of the Rules:
Models that are behind/obstructed by Difficult Terrain, such as Ruins, will often get a smaller bonus then Models that are completely visible but standing within the boundaries of the Terrain!

8th made it so I can no longer sway Tau onto the side of Chaos, but they will eventually turn aside from their idea of the Greater Good to embrace the Greatest of pleasures.

Unless the eldar player got the psychic power that gives shrouding, there should have been no possible way for the wraithknight to get a 2+ cover save in that situation. The wraithknight would have a 3+ Armor Save, a 4+ Cover, and Feel No Pain.

If you thought he was cheating why didn't you ask him about it?

If there was no malfeasance, he probably had a Warlock. Their Primaris power gives a boost to cover saves which would have made up the difference.

If the Wraithknight is 25% obscured or behind another model it'll get a 5+ cover save, if it is actually in a ruins it'll get a 4+ cover save.

Stealth will grant +1 to a cover save while shrouded will grant +2. The Wraithknight doesn't have either of those by default however there may some Eldar psychic trickery involved.

Conceal (the power in question) only affects the Psyker. In order to gain the Shrouded rule the Eldar player would have need to roll on the Telepathy table for the power Shrouding.

Since no mention of either was made in the OP, I'm guessing the Eldar player thought that being more covered somehow increased the save (which is wrong).

Did he have any harlequins mixed in? The shadowseer could have tossed Dance of Shadows on it. At least, I'm pretty sure that power can be thrown on other units...

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

He didn't use the Rulebook powers at all. he use the Eldar Craftworlds codex psychic powers instead.
