I... actually don't know. Help?

First of all, let me elaborate: PRAO is a Swedish thing, where children between the ages of 12-15 get the chance to 'work' at a company or store, to learn how life at work is. You essentially go to a store for 2 weeks and help them with stuff. I'm already pondering for alternatives for the PRAO, and one of these is the Stockholm Games Workshop store. I was just wondering, what can I say/do to get a PRAO position at the ol' G-Dubs?

Note: I'm not considering a job at GW, I just want something that's both fun (?), and something that looks nice in a resume.

Ah, it's like work experience.

I would say you either email or ask in person. Not sure about GW Sweden, but often under the jobseekers page or whatever they'll talk about stuff like that. It's also worth consulting whoever runs it, as often you need to register where you are.

Maybe throw them an email here.

For the love of god choose something more interesting than working in a shop.

Working in a store that sells a product you like may take the edge off, but seriously you've got the chance here to choose somewhere genuinely interesting, somewhere you may never have chance to experience without committing to years of study otherwise, literally almost anyone can land a job in retail.

Well, GW isn't my first hand choice, I just want it as a last resort.

It's been a few years but AFAIK they don't accept Work Experience people -- of school age anyway -- in their stores at all.

Almost too many applicants and there's awkward legal issues to do with age restrictions etc with selling things like glue, spray paints, knives etc etc

If you don't ask you don't get, but be prepared to look for something else.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

It is something to do with liability insurance. It's exceptionally expensive for an individual who is not part of a training scheme, IIRC.
I wanted to get some retail exp in with a friend of mine who owned a small high-street store, and we couldn't afford to insure me to work there due to it being with the public. What he'd have got out of me being there would sadly have not covered the cost.

If the scheme Matthew is taking part in offers coverage in his country, it may well be different.

+1

If you like working with your hands, carpentry, welding, electrician, or auto repair would be good learning experiences. If you like working with your brain, architect, civil engineering, software design, or law/judicial process might be interesting.

Retail is literally a waste of two weeks. No offense to anyone who works retail, but they'd probably agree with me

Baking powder?

Is that a thing overseas? I live in one of the most overprotective states in the U.S., and even we don't restrict teenagers from selling anything you'd find in a GW.

I think it's more being in a workplace where use of solvents and blades is prevalent. If a teenager works there, there's all manner of red tape.

Take them to a slaughter house where they prepare veal. Give them memories to last a lifetime.

Bet the +1 request is to hold the camera for a porn shoot. If you go for that job, let us know how it goes!!

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.
